Default 500 sport transmission belt alignment

So my kit came with a scorpion motor the pinion is pressed as far up the shaft as it can go and the motor mount is tightened all the way up and the belt is just level with the trans drive pulley according to the instructions they want the belt ridding 1mm higher than the pulley

Any ideas or is it fine the way it is?

Is there a step in the the motor shaft or circlip or something preventing the pulley from going up any further? I've sometimes run the belt only level with the top or bottom of the owb pulley with no ill effects. Not ideal but as long as it doesn't ride any lower than the bottom of the pulley it'll probably be fine.

If you have access to a lathe or drill press you could drill out the top of the motor pulley just a couple of mm but be careful if you try to do it by hand as the drill can get away from you real easy and suddenly you've gone too deep. A tapered reamer might also do the trick. I think a flood of people are going to find this problem as more kits are sold with the Scorpion.

Default belt alignment.

You might consider small shims between the motor and plate. A thin washer on each bolt should do the trick.

Did a slight chamfer on the pinion and was a little better but then I noticed the pulley had on the trans pulley had a bit of play so added 2 shims to the its a hair off the bottom of the pulley now I guess that's better than riding the bottom

Don't take all of the play out of that pulley - should be free to float up & down a mm or so.

Yup, This doesn't sound good. I would hope that Scorpion are working with SAB to supply this motor with a shaft that's more suitable for use in a G500 sport than the standard motor shaft, and that only a few combo kits have slipped through the net.

I will get my own G500 Sport combo kit in a few weeks time, so I guess I'll find out for myself soon enough, but if the motor shaft has a collar on it that prevents proper alignment of the belt, then I won't be using the Scorpion motor, and I'll complain to SAB and my supplier as I'm not prepared to modify new parts in such a manner to achieve correct alignment.

I had the same issue, I've added a shim on each bolt between the motor and the plate and I was able to correctly align the belt. I guess this would be a common problem with this motor and the G500 but there isn't really much posts reporting this.

This is old news, you must cut a chamfer in the pulley, best use a drill press. Cut till belt alignment is good.
Forget shims under the motor.

An example of what you need to do to pulley! I used a drill press. Alignment is perfect!

When I ran the Scorp motor my belt was about 1mm lower than the pulley. Never had a problem. Changed to Xnova and it is now even with the edge of the pulley. Still no problem.

The belt is supposed to be midway on the pulley, but as long as ALL the belt is somewhere on the pulley, probably won't matter, except they do track up and down a little as it runs, so best to start off centre pulley as per instructions. Recessing the motor pulley boss seems the simplest and tidiest solution.

meet similar issue with 4025, and the main pulley on the secondry shaft has some up and down play, do I need to eliminate it with washers?

I drilled the pinion a little and get belt aligned. And the dealer said the pulley should have a up-down play about 0.5mm, right?
