Pretty bummed....

It was cold but sunny so I took my X2 out for a couple of flights after my rebuild....

All of a sudden when I'm halfway a loop, the heli starts rolling and turning completely out of control. Didn't respond much to cyclic inputs either but it was too late and I hate to flip the throttle hold ...

Such a shame since I put so much effort in rebuilding my X2 to perfection. Really don't know what went wrong. I guess there was some vibration that made the BeastX lose it? Perhaps a brownout ? Strange since I didn't notice anything when I was pitchpumping like a madman or rolling, flipping ... Did a couple of loopings but then it just lost it.

If you have a DX8 ... check your PID against the ones listed in the Spektrum DX8 service bulletins. Mine caused several mystery crashes until I found the service bulletin. It had to be sent in to be serviced ... I've since switched to a JR XG8

I had those DS92 servos on mine and two of them one day just bind up and cause a brown out, so put in my old savox 255 and half way through a loop the motor just cut I am wondering if it is the YGE30.

I see you have the same setup so I tried plugging in a capacitor an so far so good maybe worth a try.

i have been lucky or i just finally found a good esc.

had the same problem with my yge 18. at first i thought my servos were binding so i spooled up and did pitch pumps and saw that it was brown out.

now my setup is castle phx 25 , and hyperion ds11 amb cyclic and mks ds95i.
i have had zero issues with the bec or brownouts. i think my setup is asking alot from
a bec.

DS92 or DS92A+?

The DS92's are not made for FBL and not recommend for use in a FBL model. They wear prematurely due to the design.

Also, I run the DS92A+ / DS95i in my Warp 360. MKS states you need a 10A BEC to run these servos. I've logged spikes of 12A+ at times, they are extremely demanding for power. The internal BEC on YGE 18A through 60A ESCs are 3A continuous / 6A max. Have a peek in the Warp 360 area and you'll find lots of cases like this ...

They were the DS92s I knew they were not made for flybarless but I got them for free so why not, had the same issue with the savoxs because they are suppose to be a bit power hungry as well. The capacitor should help with the amp spikes.... but 12+amps I guess it is on the warp though DFC style head with 360 blades.

We are able to get the system to brown out on the bench, nevermind in flight.

well i was on my 4th pack and i heard a loud noise , like grinding. i landed and saw my boom was cracked in half. i think i stressed the boom when i didnt tighten the boom clamp a few weeks ago, thats right where it cracked.

my tail bearings are shot, and my boom needs replacing, pretty lucky if you ask me

here is the video of the flight, i didnt have my camera setup right, but you can hear it.

Just a thought.
My thought would be the bearings caused the boom issue due to high vibration coming from bad bearings weakening/fatigue in the metal.

Either way, I agree you got lucky. Free heli(minimal expense and effort anyway). My luck I would have plowed it in.
Best of luck.

in the flight that i noticed the boom clamp was loose the tail was shaking up and down

right where the boom support clamp is. and it broke right there , im pretty sure if i had bearings bad enough to make vibes like that the beastx would of shown it.

i did change the motor bearings just in case 10 flights back, and the last crash i had
i bent my tail shaft, once that happens i change my tail bearings no matter what.

same thing goes for my main shaft, if i bend it in a crash the main shaft bearings get changed.

i got everything dialed in today, i also did some maintenance.

checked bearings , regreased them, replaced belt. maiden went good , but i saw that

one of my tail blades was loose. i checked the mounting hole and it was stretched out.

put a new set on and im good to go now.

im pretty happy now with the x2, i know its quirks 100%.

Finally hit 200 logged flights today. I didn't start logging until a couple months ago, so the heli has more flights on it than that. But I really dig this little bird.

What capacitator are you using? No experience using those.
An extra safety can never hurt I guess!

Well i did it again. I was setting up my bx again after trying the vz1n
Everything went great. I was flying low head speed and forgot my tail sucks like that. I did a flip , tail blew out , saved it but my dam autopilot finger hit throttle hold. It fell about 15 feet, no headspeed no auto bailout(cc25) blade stop and crash, into water. And the field is 99% dry.

Oh Well, broken skids, bent shafts[/url]

I tried the lynx blade 300x tail blades, shaved the root down. My first flight was wierd
I dialed down the gain but still got bad occilations on tic tocs, so i went down again.

Changed packs, and the gain needed to go up. So its 3 points lower than stock tail blades.

The tail feels solid, just like the stock ones, fast stops no bounce. I say these tail blades are good. And i got bright orange, a big help since my eyes are half of what they were 3 years ago

maidened my x2 today, other than tail gain being too high it flew perfectly, inverted was solid and roll and flip rates were just how I like them , all in all this heli seems like it will be a lot of fun and flies just like I see in some of the videos on here. plenty of power and very agile, just like I wanted my trex 250 to but never was.
