Servo Horns & swash leveler<--which?
Man...I'm building my Goblin and I'm at the point where you get your servos set-up and installed. I thought I was going to be able to use the Align straight horns w/ my ds610's but the shortest hole is about 20mm's...the book clearly states 16-18mm's...I guess I have to wait until tomorrow when I can get to the hobby shop? Or can I use these slightly longer horns and continue my build? I do have to go to my LHS for the JR tail servo horn, deans connectors, trex 700 swash leveler (this will fit if I remember reading this correctly somewhere, right?)
Let me know if you know. I'm just going to assume not to use the 20mm align horns... I just want to continue w/ this build but you really can't until this step is done it seems...If I put the tail together & etc, I wont have room really to organize the wires / electronics like I do now... AHH! Its killing me to just stare at it all half assembled. (lol) Still need a speed controller and motor anyway (motor is tomorrow...a quantum 530kv one too.) Oh, the LiPo's are after everything else is done too . Plus, I have to learn how the skookum sk-720 operates as well. (I know other systems like beastx, etc.) Ok, time to be bored now.... *sigh* (I have no patience ) Guess I'll read the skookum manual. |

Ignore the manual, it has no idea what FBL unit you will run. The best geometry will be determined by the FBL unit.

You can always drill a small hole in your servo arm at 17mm (given that it's plastic). Then just screw your ball into it. Make sure you drill a hole that is slightly smaller in diameter than your ball stem. If they are metal that you have, I don't know what you could do.

Every FBL unit has a geometry it likes, you have to start somewhere and tweak it to suit.

The Align plastic horns you have may do the job as is or you can dill as Justin suggests, but I don't trust the flexy plastic on the direct to swash setup of the Goblin.
The Mikado arms work really well on this heli, very high quality. Your Align servos will take these with the Futaba spline configuration. |

I used Seacraft lightweight arms that had 17mm spacing and they worked fine with the Vbar.

Thanks guys! I'm going to see what my LHS has after work. If he has nothing, I'll use the 20mm hole on the Align plastic horns I have.
(I don't trust the strength of the hole I would have to make via drilling...the 2 holes they give you are re-enforced plastic wise anyway.) |

I found some Hanger 9 metal servo arms at the LHS. The spacing on the last hole was just right.

Just starting my Goblin build. I'm using the Torq servos from Outrage. Will the servo horns supplied the these servos work? What spline are they? Thanks.

The torq servo horns will work as long as you do not mind cutting them down a bit. Use the X shaped horns with the ball mounted to the arm that has the "O" on it. Cut the others off close to the center and sand it smooth. If you do not cut the arms off close to center they will not allow for full deflection. I prefer to use the torq arms because they fit tighter than the futaba.
Tone.

Man...My LHS had DUBRO hi strength horn sets and the base of the horn is way too big to fit the servo in to the Goblin.
I'm going to just use the Align horns @20mm's...If it seems awful, I'll just change it to what SAb recommended. This is what was holding my build back...now it's the 12 bolts SAB doesn't supply for the servos Oh well...I'll just return the 2 other packages of servo horns to my LHS and get the screws I need tomorrow. Oh well. I need to finish doing a couple of things on my trex 600 anyway so I can fly tomorrow. |

Sorry to hear that. I know it is aggravating when something so simple holds up everything. I almost bought those DuBro before I found the Hanger 9 metal ones. I'm glad I didn't. BTW, my kit came with the screws for the servos.
