Arrow Notable Features

From the close up pics I see (let's hope they aren't add ons)

- turnbuckle links on swash
- Metal servo horns
- the newer stronger tail box similar with the SE

I'll have to look up the dimensions of that Scorpion motor so I'll get an idea for frame width.

Naturally I want to stuff all sorts of cool electronics in there.

Anybody else note any cool features from the close ups?

I noticed the Korean prices are significantly higher than here in the USA. The Avantgarde can be had here for about $520. Over in Korea it's over $600. I'm guessing if Amain carries the Archon it would be around $420. Any higher and I'd rather just get another Avantgarde.

Tail grips are metal compared to the Avantgarde which is plastic. Head is all silver compared to the red prototype.

The combo motor specs.

Arrow Casual Observations...

More observations....

- Inside width of frame appears to be about 33-34 mm - NOT SURE
that is just the minimum requirement to mount a 3SX.

- CF Frame thickness appears to be ~2mm thick comparing against other parts
this is good and should give the frame good strength

- Of concern - main shaft *appears* less than 10mm thick. Unless its made of some variation of kryptonite....less than 10mm on a 500 is worrisome. In fact, on the original BEAM E4..the main shaft was so thin and soft, high G maneuvers could bend it without any blade strike! BEAM quickly added a much stronger/hardened alloy main shaft option and may have discontinued the original softer metal version.

- Nice touch with the "lined" cut out for the battery strap - so that the CF frame will not chafe the nylon strap.

- I like the 'wrap around' style of the fuse. Looks like it will be harder for the wind to pull off the canopy when flying backwards.

- Like the way the MAIN shaft tail belt pulley *seems* to have multiple screws into the main gear. This should minimize any tendency for the pulley to wobble (as it sometimes did on the earlier iterations). Wobble leads to a wonky, vibration facilitating 'left / right' spooling of the belt at the rear pulley.

- Looks like the MAIN belt pulley and maybe main gear have a "keyed" pathway. If so that could make aligning all the parts easy when it comes time to line up and put the lower Jesus bolt in place.. What a treat that chore was on the earlier model aligning auto rotation sleeve, belt pulley, etc.

- Gotta love that beefy beefy tail box. Looks like some kind of belt "keeper" on top in back to ensure no belt slapping.

- Sadly - does not look like stainless steel fasteners were used for the frame. That would have been a nice touch.

- Hey, there is no horizontal fin where the boom support rods attach! Where am I going to mount my GPS ???

Question What's up with Beam anyway?

The Archon looks very promising. If the build quality is anything like the E4, it should be my next heli. But...

What's up with Beam? There appears to be absolutely no official information on the web about the company or their helicopters - not even a minimalist landing-page web site? I don't get it. Are they just keeping everything Korean-only, or what? Anyone know anything?

Never could understand their marketing, I loved my e4 v2, but with parts hard to come by, I had to let it go. I'd buy one in heard beat if that ever changes.

That was a fast flight
Loved to see the servo shaft support they have in the E5.
Unique in this "smaller" birds.
In the air, the sound screams precision, like the E4 also does.

Default Beam E5 Archon

I have decided if I end up with one, it will be my "larger" beater heli. It appears the anti-rotation bracket is at the front (is this relative/important?) but for me wanting a scale, it seems I have to convert the AvantGarde eventually. (oh such shame, lol... if i gotta have a scale, the bigger the better, and what better base to build one off in a 600)

I may be able to squeeze it under a 600 fuse cowl but not the 500 and convert it to 12S. So who knows, they may both end in scales after all. Hmph, may not be as restricted as I originally thought, after reflection of the options.

Cheers

Question -

Which dealer do you plan to purchase the ARCHON (and parts) from?

Thank you,

OP

I am yet to determine that at this stage. We do have a Beam Rep/Retailer here in Aus but he is not jumping into this one just yet (still concerned about how the 600 new release went and even he didn't get much in the way of info yet) and ca$h restriction deems i won't be for a number of months yet, so i will get to see what the response from the beta testers is.

I do like the idea of a 500 as my 2nd "bigger" heli so i can share packs with my 600. I had been thinking recently a 500 is needed to fill that gap from the 450 to the 600. Im just glad by the time i have the money, Beam will/does have the heli to fill that spot.

Yet to see who picks up Beam for distributorships ( be good to see more available).

The AvantGarde E6 600 size doesn't have one either. Just pinch one from any manufacturer who has the same boom dimensions (for the mount itself) and use that.

Cheers

Is this bird in the market already?
I check YT once in a while for new videos, but nothing new for two months, not even from Korea

Thanks.
Not that i'm going to buy it already, maybe in the future who knows.
But the lack of recent movies makes me think that it didn't really hit the shelves, anywhere.
All the movies online seem to be from beta/test pilots, not from regular consumers.
