Anyone using it with the stock ESC (6V BEC) or should I run a step down with it?

I'm not using the stock ESC with mine but you do need to use a step down if you are at 6v or you will fry the servo.

I did not use the BEC in the stock BEC on my Trex 450 Pro, as it was only rated at two amps-not sufficient for four digital servos, IMHO.

The newer models may have a BEC with a higher current rating (mine is a very early one).

If you are running your cyclic servos at 6 Volts, you should run a step down. The 3500G is not rated for 6 volts.

I have used both setups, with a step down and without. Currently I am not using a step down because I wanted to tidy up my wiring as much as possible and am having no issues, I ran it at 6v when I first had it too without ptoblems. I have had this servo for a couple years now so it seems to be holding up fine and have never even had to replace a gear inside it after 30 crashes or so.
When I first got it I did some research about whether it could run at 6v safely and a few JR reps said it is fine on 6v.

Same here, even after many crashes (one which involved breaking the metal servo tray), still the 3500G works fine. Amazing servo!

Anyone running this on the tail? Does it need an adapter to run on the tail?

IMO no adapter needed. If you go by the manufacturers written specs you need to step it down, but the JR guys I have heard chime in say 6v is fine and many people do use 6v like myself.
Saying that though, you will probably find arguments against running 6v, like any discussion.

Actually, I meant to ask if I need an adapter for the tail mount on the 450 pro. The 3500 is quite a bit smaller than the 9257. Just wondering how people run it on the mount. Thanks.

Oh my bad sorry. As far as mounting goes I have used 4 of the little servo rubbers and then just bolted it down with 2.5 mm bolts. The bolts dont sit centre to the holes but they are not hanging out or anything. Cause the rubbers sit over the top and the bottom, they give a nice wide clamp and keep anything from moving.

I run the 3500 on my 450 pro tail at 6v. Great servo!
