Default Brushless tail, how do you arm it??

How do you arm a brushless tail??

I've added a brushless tail using an Mi-3A (SuperMicro MX-3A) ESC, flashed with BLHeli 14.4 SuperMicro 3A for Tail.

The ESC works fine on the bench, but I can't figure out how to (reliably) arm it now that it's installed in my nano? Fing around with TH and rudder combinations I've gotten it to arm a couple times and fly, but most of the time it does nothing or ends up in programming mode beeping at me.

What's the process for arming a double brushless Nano?

A brushless tail ESC will arm at the same time as the main arms.

Mine isn't arming at the same time.

I've kind of worked out a sequence of left rudder, release TH, right rudder, engage TH, which seems to work much of the time. Well enough I can fly at least.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with this now very tail heavy nano.

I'm sorry to report that my Nanos fly better with a stock brushed tail motor vs a HP02T. I don't notice it being heavier, but the tail hold is less good (too weak).

Yah, sadly I think I'm in agreement. The tail ESC may be misconfigured as it went into programming mode a couple times while trying to get it to arm, but overall it just seems like more trouble and way less performance.

The tail hold currently sucks balls... If I simply punch it a little it does a 180 spin! I'm thinking I'll swap it back out for a 7mm brushed tail instead.

That's a vibration problem.

I've never tried a 7mm tail motor until recently, it was a big improvement. And even the stock tail motor had better tail hold vs the HP02T, at least in my case. Furthermore mine broke a wire after very little use, so it's not very solid either. I'd really recommend to keep the tail brushed. YMMV

What tail rotors are you folks using on your brushless tails?

I cut down Plantraco props to about 52mm. I tried smaller prop at first but have had these for about 3 years now. I have 4 wild dbl bl nanos and the tails hold perfectly.

Craig said 'vibes'. Believe him.

BTW I learned to rewind. because the wires can get damaged in a crash.
It beats the hell out of spending money for a new motor--brushed or not.
PM me about rewinding your HP02 if you like.

I mostly use the std Lynx tail rotor, which is the same as a stock nCPx rotor (looks similar at least).

Thx a lot for the offer, but shipping from/to Norway costs so much I could rather but a new one. But really appreciate the offer!
