Default Liking the chase stretched

Just bought this off a fellow helifreak. Threw in an xnova 1860 with a 20 tooth pinion, some zeal 380's and switch tails.....rebuilt the heli as it was shipped half apart. Flies excellent has a crisp feel with cyclic and tail is phenomenal.....how long does the second bigger belt last? How many flights u guys getting?

I just passed 100 flights on a new build. I started out stretched with a trex 500 tail belt and all belts are still fine. Spray them with some silicone from time to time.

I use a PTFE Dry lube spray and i still need to get some spares in stock

Bag the silicone guys. Use a product called white lightning clean ride wax lube instead. Most us belt driven guys are using it on all our stuff.

Used the white lightning also during the build but a pain to apply when it is up and flying so i switched to spray drylube.

Belts are still good as new

We just had a 766 stripping tail gears using the dry lube. Applied the white lightning. Zero issues now.

Yeah, it is a total pain to apply. I just don't do it directly out of the bottle. Been using a toothbrush, but am gonna try it out of a spray bottle this week. Will let everyone know how that works....

Btw, still on the same belts I had when doing the build thread sticky. The last a loooong time when properly taken care of.

Just installed a rare Kde 450XF 1750 bought in pristine shape for less than $40. Tore it down and lubed it up with diamond lube just to make sure all was well. What a motor! Does the same thing to my Chase that Patrick at Kde's larger gen 3 455kv does to my Gob 800. Flew it yesterday. Just rips. Was looking at the Xnova and wondered how they compared. I think the mags and stator on the Kde are still much higher quality. Hence, the high price guys didn't want to pay and why they no longer produce them?

Some pics of mine. I really enjoy this heli! It rips so hard with the xnova 1860 , pulse 1800 65c running high hs. Flies precise, fast and nimble and have had no problems about 50 flights so far. Thinking of changing the swash to blade grip linkages to real turnbuckles mine are a little loosey goosey. Even tho they move easily on ball the take quite a bit of pressure to actually pop off...anyone have any recommendations?

I am using aftermarket turnbuckles made for the trex 450 pro. All my links have expired though so not sure where they are stocked now. I scrapped the nasty Chase links that should easily have been machined as true turnbuckles right off the bat. Which is what Glen penned out when he designed this heli.

These are the ones from the build thread:
http://www.helioption.com/store/inde...roducts_id=138

Couldn't get them to work on mine, too short...

Sooo they do work or dont? Lol. Anyways the thing that bothers me with stock links is how loose they are on balls i got the red part to actually not unscrew links. Hopefully the helioptions are tighter on balls

As I recall....

Since they are shorter, they raise the swash - which is a good thing, since servo to swash links need to be longer anyway.

In your case, no, they are not drop in replacement.

I seem to remember that the HeliOption plastic links were horribly sloppy on the balls.

You can use Align links if you have a good batch, or SAB - although they need to be shortened.

It's in the first couple of pages of the build thread...

I changed out all my links to Align 450 links servo to awash & Align DFC links for the grips & follower arms to swash.

The loose & crappy plastic links that come stock made me nervous. Never had a failure, but I didn't chance it either.

I had to do some trimming of the links to get them to fit & still have enough room to make adjustments for geometry.

What are you guys using for a stretched boom? Is the Protos 500 one the only way to go?

I started running the new Align plastic tailblades but i am running into vibe problems again using a 1mm thick cf boom. With Edge cf tailblades there's no problem but the hold is not great.. need longer ones.

I buy the Protos 500 part # MSH51322.

From what IamCxZ. posted the Beam E5 boom would work also but I have not tried it yet.

I always install with MSH facing down but trim sheets will add color to tail.
