Question 600EFL Rudder Travel Question

Sup all,

A friend and I just setup a new 600EFL and had a little issue well more of a hmm why is that acting that way, type of thing. hehe

Ok so, we setup the rudder/limits, all is great.
When I push the gimbal to the right or left I am at FULL rudder about halfway to right or left side, with no movement at end of travel.

Qustion:
What am I over looking here to get movement at full range of travel?

Any help/info would be appreciated.

I am using a DX8
600EFL all stock, no upgrades.
Think the 3GX is v1.1 not 2.0 yet, will deal with that after I figure this out. hehe

Thanks,
Dubie

I'm not clearly understanding your problem. You mean you don't get full travel when you press the rudder stick in either direction? Did you get full travel when you set your rudder limits in 3gx rudder setup?

I mean I have no rudder control at L/R full stick.
I have to come in to about half before tail starts to travel again.
So from start at middle to end of travel is at half L/R stick.
The other half gives me no movement, just dead area.

Sounds like pretty typical HH response.

Sounds like too much throw on your servo arm.
What is the distance from servo center to the ball?

Most helis are 9 to 13 mm.

Regardless of your mechanical gain the HH gyro will reach the mechanical limits long before your tx stick does. Remember in HH there is no direct translation between your stick position and a tail pitch.

+1HH gyros will eventually move to full throw with even the slightest tail input as they try to give you a rate of rotation. The gyro will notice the heli isn't responding(on the bench) and add more tail pitch. Same thing with FBL units on cyclic.

If you really want to see linear servo response, plugging the servo directly into the rx rudd is one way. You'll be in direct control at that point. Be careful not to leave it that way though; it'll fly but take some skill.

.
But FBL units have a decay on the cyclic so the swash will recenter itself.
