Default Total newb needs help getting hyper 400 in the air please

got this used from a friend, had to replace all the tubes and props, now ready to try and figure out how to program radio..

I can put it on my old DX8 or on my new Gen2 DX7..what should I use?

The hyper has a dsmx satellite already soldered on, and I know to take it off and bind to one of my radios, I just do not know anything past that point..

What do you guys suggest?

I Am all ears!

Thank you for any help!

Birdie

You'll be fine using your DX8. Set it up in 'Acro' mode.

Yes, you will need to bind the satellite to your radio. Then you will need to download the Baseflight software, which is a google chrome app. Also, if you don't have the manual, download it from Aerial freaks website.

A micro USB cable is needed to connect the Naze32 board to your computer. Make sure you remove the props before you power it up and connect it to your computer. The motor can spin up during the setup process.

The Hyper 400 manual has step by step instructions on how to setup things up. Also, as the previous post says only setup the Acro mode in the mode selection tab of the software. This means only there should only be a checked box in the "Arm" row to the corresponding switch position. The angle and horizon modes are known to cause stability issues, which could lead to a crash. Some people have gotten them to work and others have not. The flight mode switch will be used to arm and disarm the quad.

On final note, there is a table listing the recommended end points in your transmitter. I would leave the elevator and aileron at 100/100 instead of the 120/120 until you test fly it. You can always change them later if you want to the quad to flip and roll faster.

You can bind the satellite via the naze32 via the command line interface. Type in: set spektrum_sat_ bind = 9 (or 5 for dsm2), then type in: save. Unplug board then plug back in, sat should be in bind mode, bind your tx to the sat. Go back to the CLI and type in: set spektrum_sat_bind = 0, then: save. Works in baseflight and cleanflight.

I do suggest setting up a "throttle hold" switch like on a heli via mixing in the TX on the flight mode channel. It is double safety and can help save some of the props in the event of a crash since the motors do not stop spinning when armed.

Hi,

Do you mind expanding in the mixing? Do i simply mix the FM channel 100% to my throttle hold switch channel?

Mix your TH switch -100% to the FM channel, you can verify the function of it in baseflight or cleanflight
