44 Magnum down....
As I've told every new heli pilot I've worked with, every heli has an expiration date, every heli WILL crash someday...
Yesterday was the day for my beloved 44 Magnum... Not sure yet exactly, but either the gyro or tail servo went hard over. This is suspected due to the direction of rotation seen in the video.... With a driven tail system, when this hard over happens, there isn't much you can do. It's gonna spin all the way to the crash... When I felt the machine was getting too near to a parked vehicle, I chose to dump it instead of continuing to fight with it in an attempt to level it. Better to drop the machine than to cause further damage to property or people... Anyway, here's the video.. It's from a cell phone, kinda shaky, and doesn't show the cause, but you can see the direction of rotation and the aftermath...

Ouch. Wish I could say "I can't imagine how that feels" but unfortunately, I've been there - 3 times with my Intrepid..

Ouch, right on the concrete too. Tough call if you wanted to try and gather it in or put it down ASAP to avoid the parked cars.
Having stuffed many helis in the dirt quite a few times over the years, and only one time ever stuffing one onto concrete, I'll take the dirt any day... Hopefully the damage isn't too bad and you can get it back in the air soon!

Turbine has a hole in the side of it, so it goes back to Wren.. It'll be awhile before she flies again..
Powered it back up, the gyro and tail servo seem to be working properly... NOW... Possibly a brown out, but I did check the battery before the flight, and it's still showing good voltage.. Such is the life of flying model helicopters...

Not knowing the cause will make it much more difficult to ever fly it again. If you do fly it again without knowing the cause it can crash again the same way.
On a much more diminutive scale, I had something similar happen. On the last flight of my 250 last week, I noticed the tail control was sluggish. I chalked it up to a weak battery near the end of the run. Everything checked out OK, except the battery was lower than usual for me. Next day, first flight, after 10 seconds in the air, I lost all tail control and spiraled in. Dead tail servo.
