they said that they were shipping kits to the team pilots last week which they did and wait for the reports and then if everything goes well they would start shipping.
can't wait for the flight reports.

I had the privilege of seeing the Mostro first hand this weekend.I saw it in various stages of the build and the first few flights. I thought the machining and paint job were first class! Reports of the build (I didn't build it) were described as "easy and fun". In the air, Mostro is very quiet. I was asked to tach it and everyone was shocked when I tached her at 2210. The guys were telling me they thought it was 1900. Mostro is fast. Jack Frost made a half field pass and everyone was in shock at how fast she went. Jack said he wasn't trying and was not pinned stick. Jack's transitions with Mostro were smooth and sleek and effortless. Mostro autos well too. All in all I was very impressed with the Mostro and I think you will be too and I can't wait to get mine! I would like to say I am not a rep or associated with Avant.

I would think that there would be some plastic end caps that would fit the skids. I do like end caps as it give a more finished appearance. I'm sure someone will find a good match and will post.

The look if skids grows on you quickly once it's in front of you.

The machine is a work of art and the build is awesome.

If all they find wrong with the kit are the lack of skid tube plugs - you guys should be in good shape!

G'day Chuck

Totally agree, going to be an awesome heli, bring on the 500....................... Please!

If you want skid caps, go to the local hardware store., that's what I did for my Aurora just to finish her off, you can see them on my Avatar...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that could see the obvious "oddness" of the struts/skids in relation to the rest of the heli.

1. The stubby feet looks weird...I don't care if there's a "trend" with little skids...it looks odd on this heli...IMO.

2. The struts are also too far back in relation to the nose of the canopy...too much "overhang". Since the front struts cannot be moved any further forward without making cutouts into the belly of the canopy looks to be a permanent odd looking feature of this heli until the aftermarket release a fix.

Anyway now they're talking about a price increase and the pre orders were just "introductory pricing"? Seriously?

Looks like I won't be getting one this year...

Then it will be your loss, I saw the Mostro in person and I thought the skids were fine. You don't want big bulky skids as you are flying. As for the price, with all of the extra stuff Avant has added since the original design do you really think $50 is a big deal. Heck, the dual one way upgrade on the Goblin is $150. - Kris

$50 is nothing...it's the principle...seems like a bait and switch tactic to me...in fact they wanted to jack up the price $150 but had to back down because of dealer requests...

Here's the way I look at it. Design it right and price it right. Don't make excuses and say well we found this problem and that problem so we have to jack up the price in order to account for the design changes.

Regarding the skids..I don't want big bulky skids...I just want skids that look proportional like 90% of the helis out there. The current skids look odd. The open back canopy looks odd too.

Anyway I don't think it will be a huge loss...I have 4 helis to build this year.

Beam 600, TT E820, JR Forza 700 and Goblin Speed...

when the goblin came out you would get the goblin kit for $900
then one-way on bushings doesn't work then they makes a triple bearing pulley and charges $30 for it
then that doesn't stand the torque and they make double one-way large belt kit and charges you $90 for it
then the gears strip and they make a new main gear and charge you $60
so far that's $180 more
i know i forgot a lot of upgrades so that's actually a larger number

i rather not have to crash my heli to help them find out what needs to be upgraded
i also rather spend the $50 more they're talking about to get all that and more right from the beginning.
that's not even half the price of a blade.
and i want to save the $50 extra they're leaving the price like that for a few days and giving us a heads-up.
that's a nice thing to do.

You can't single out the Goblin to make a point. There are quite a few helis out there that don't need upgrades out of the box. The Goblin is more of an exception rather than the rule. As I said $50 is nothing and not the point. If $50 were a big deal I wouldn't be spending close to $6000 to build 4 new helis this year...

They said it would cost $900 and would not be needing upgrades. Now they're saying well we added a bunch of "upgrades" so you guys don't have to buy them but we have to jack up the price to account for those upgrades.....sounds a lot like a bait and switch to me...

To me they're not upgrades they're fixes to the original prototypes...fixes are a natural progression of designing something.

There is no bait and switch going on. They are just trying to perfect the heli that's all. Buy the heli now before the price goes up. - Kris
