Would be nice to see Align come out with a 450L belt conversion, not that I have had any issues with the toque tube, it would just be a nice option.

With the correct CG on mine using Align 1450mAh packs, the canopy would not quite fit. I drilled new holes for the canopy mounts about 1cm further back, making it fit perfectly.

This 470L also having the boom cover option won't be able to simply adjust the nose and have things fit properly. Would look goofy at the least if you repositioned just the nose with the boom cover on.

I will probably do the same, then order a new canopy without the holes drilled. I'm running the Align 1450 mAh packs as well.
It is just annoying that you have to do that and Align didn't get the CG right prior to releasing the 450L. Anyway no big deal.

Seems like Align is done with DFC. Cool idea. Just not a good trade off. Hot Da#@ that's the fastest helicopter I've ever seen. That thing launched up in the sky with superiority and insanity.

Is it the same 1800kv motor? It looks wider and shorter in that video. I doubt Align would make the blades longer without changing the motor.
The golden question... does it have the HobbyWing 50A ESC on it? (chances are high).
Looks like Align outdid the 450L. Impressive.

It looks like the 450L main frame but without the ESC plate so that the HW ESC fits. I also like the stance as it looks aggressive and keeps the tail blades from hitting the ground.

I see:
380 blades with stronger servos
New landing gear with nose down
longer boom
new blade grips and swash follower (Non DFC) with new/old swashplate
no more ESC plate to fit HW 50A
possibly new motor with more torque
sweet new canopy and scheme

DFC is good for high head speed helis, So I'm not sure if they would ditch the DFC on the 450/250 size helis.

I would like to see more close ups of this 470L, the tail belt is what I would like to see on ALL Align helis. Ditch the TT

It was good on my 600 too. No one ever complained about the flight characteristics.

It was the durability and high maintenance that sunk the ship. The dampers take a beating and things get sloppy quick. The DFC arm is not supported by anything. It is subject to bending, twisting, torquing, snapping and popping free. In some respects, its a miracle it would last as long as it did. I could flatten out the 450L Align dampers in a week. At which point the DFC arm could sloppily bend at all kinds of terrible angles.

Whereas the swash follower is a bolt down brace and mechanical lever. It's more rotational mass, but at least it keeps the blade grips at the right angle of attack.

I agree that the 250 could keep it though. Its so light and small. And of course the 150. If Align ever makes one again.

I guarantee the belt drive looks like the one on the 450 Sport. It will literally be the same part number. Align's not really making anything new here. Just going back to where they started.

The tail belt drive looks to be different then their past designs. It appears to have a belt tensioner on it as well.

I know I am looking forward to getting to a 470l and the belt tail is a huge factor for me.

I thought you meant the tail box. That's definitely an improvement and weight loss. The transmission was a big old clunk of plastic and gears and pulleys.

I'd agree that most people came back around to the belt for the tail. It dampens the tail and gives it a different feel. It feels smoother and softer on the stops. And of course it's not nearly the PITA for repair and maintenance.

Not counting the 20mm longer blades. I wonder how much the 470L weighs compared to the 450L. Subtracting all the extra gears, bearings, torque tube and transmission box.

This picture nailed it. That is not the same 1800kv 460mx.

They shortened the height of the stator and made it wider. Indeed... A new motor with more torque. Closer to a 500 class motor!

I'd also dare say the motor fan vents are larger.

The belt drive is certainly all new. The 450 sport used the standard Align design of a layshaft driven off a large auto gear.
This new one it totally different, it's a direct belt drive driven off a pulley mounted on the mainshaft. It's similar to Compass or Mikado.

This will be a helicopter that everyone should own. Damn. I just sold my 450L and said no more little helicopters. But this thing is just too cool to pass up.

The way it blasted up into the sky in that video.... that was absolutely unreal.

The 450L was already one of the most insane helicopters on the market. Now its probably lighter, with a bigger disc/bigger motor, FL head, good BEC and awesome governor. And belt drive. Awesome. Bust out your wallets... this is one helicopter not to be missed.

Judging from the 700x, they will probably reduce the price too. The belt tail has simpler and fewer parts and the HobbyWing deal seems to have helped the bean counting.

Yeah, I never pre-order but this might temp me enough. Biggest attraction for me is going to be parts cost.

Yep. You get a lot of helicopter for the money. And for once, it needs nothing. Every single part on this helicopter should be A+ ready to go. No more modifications.

I can't think of one thing on this helicopter that I'd need to change. Even aesthetically... its perfect! The way they made the landing gear slant forward. Looks awesome and keep the tail up.

Gotta give Align credit on this one. They listened to everything and fixed everything.

I also noticed a 3rd bearing block and the belt drive sits above the maingear so i highly doubt the belt setup can be transfered to the 450L.... damn

Oh good catch. I didn't even notice that. On top of all the other things I listed, they also added the 3rd bearing block!

WoW. I'm gonna call it right now... This will be the best helicopter kit ever made. One that sticks around for many years. There is nothing else to improve. I'm dying for a price here.

Sorry no.. not the best. Main and spindle shaft should be diameter should be increased and a slightly thicker boom. Then it would be a hell of a lot better.

Yeah, as okay as it looks, I'm willing to bet the Gaui X3 stretch will be Twice the heli as this.
