QX3 can not Calibrate compass

I crashed my QX3 and broke a leg. I send for a new one and got the tall legs by mistake. but I used them. I went to calibrate compass , the flashing blue light turned flashing orange. I then rotated the QX3 and when I got upside down (180 deg) the LED turned solid red. I tried facing south and no change. Is mounting critical ? Did I damage the sensor?
I can't start the motors without the compass.

The compass has an up/down and forward/back, so there is some amount of importance in how it's mounted. Ideally you got it back in the same orientation as it was before the crash.

Another suggestion is to make sure you're doing the process correctly. Timing and sequence are important, so if you do any step when it doesn't expect you to, the calibration could fail right there.

I powered on QX3, I flash the F mode switch 4 times
the LED flashed orange slowly then after 10 sec it flashed rapidly
I then rotated the copter one rotation and the LED turned green
I continued all 4 while on green.
I read that online
It still does not start

I turned on the QX3 inside (no gps)
LED blinking green or blue
I went outside the green turned solid after 15 sec but it flashed with 1 quick red flash
blue turned solid with 2 quick red flashes
Won't start
I switch to no gps right aileron + switched mode 4x
The green turned white while the Blue mode turned blue + quick flashing white.

when flying all modes are the same i think stability mode no return home or smart mode

what next? any ideas?
