Default EP 100 with 3 bladed head and no FBL unit?

I am working on an old Gaui EP 100 Hughes for a customer that wants me to get it flying for him-but there is no FLB unit on the heli-just a tail gyro, servos and receiver...will this 3 bladed head fly without a 3 axis gyro???

if not-- I am going to tell him its most likely not worth putting the labor into the set up.

It´s even possible to fly a 2 bladed heli without FBL, google "nobar rc heli", but it´s not very pleasant to fly. I think back when the EP 100 came out that was the only possibility though. A bit of info can be found here on HF (search link):
