Default Generator Mounts

In between test flights of new heli's over the holidays, I was able to come up with some simple mounts for Raja's (rbort) "Jewel" Generators.

For the Intrepid Gas and 90/Magnums.

For the Observer EB's

And for the Twin Observers.

The mounts for the Gassers and Observers will be available through Raja, or us, very shortly, for $20.00.

The Mounts for the Twin Observers can be gotten directly from us, and will cost more due to the additional parts needed.

Yeeha Chris!

Output is 5.4v, up to 3 amps continuous, 5 amps surge.
Watts would be 16w at 3 amp but the generator motor is capable of around 70w.

In flight tested with a watt meter on my Spectra-g showed 2.45a max amp draw during heavy 3D.

How do you start a 90 size motor with this generator in place, or is it just intended for Gassers? - not that you really need it for glow flights last all of 8minutes or so.

Would be good to switch the motor direction in order to flick a switch and start the engine. Don't think 70W is going to do much though

You got me with that one. I've been flying gassers and turbines for so long, I totally blanked on the starting of a 90........

I suppose we could go back to starting with a belt!!

Check the link to Raja's site, basically it powers the electronics on the heli.

Just an update, I test flew an Industrial Twin today made for the people that Raja fly for, with a Generator installed.

While running at an idle, I felt around for any vibes or looseness or any hint of an issue and could not find one. I kept a close eye on it while in a hover for any sign of a high freq or any radio interference, Smooth as glass, no problems whatsoever.

Excellent job Raja, I give your idea a big :thumbsup2: .

Excellent Mr. Bergen! Thanks for getting that heli up and flying for us too! Now that you made this post I think I better get ready for more requests! I'm down to 1 stock generator, 1 duel jewel, and 2 jewels spoken for in stock, but I just ordered some more parts yesterday and today to make some more.

By the way everyone, I will be going on vacation the first couple of weeks in April, so just wanted to post it here in case you are looking for me and I don't answer email or such.

Chris, do you have a part number for the Generator mounts?

They're a bit hard to find on the site... If you're still selling them, that is.

Default Bergen Jewel mounts

If you're looking for the Bergen Intrepid mount or the Observer mount, I have those in stock. The part numbers are 2046 or 2046-O. I'm sure Chris can get you one as well if you're ordering other parts to make it more convenient for you.

I need the intrepid mount and I'm already making out an order from Bergen for some blades and a flybar since I decided to tip it over after the tail let go.

I'd order it direct from you but I don't have paypal and my friend needs it pretty quick.

Thanks for the #s!

Default Need conformation and a little help

Hi folks,

I have got the mounting plate and Raja's heavily worshiped Jewel and am following the instructions on Bergens website for fitting but I am struggling to get the plate on.

I have poped off the popsicle stick and now have the mount plate against the chasis on the right side with the two screws into the triple bearing block. My issue is now to put the popsicle stick back on as I have very little room to get it on the rectangular seasaw where the jamut goes. If I do put it on the popsicle stick rubs heavily on the mount plate and also the pop' stick is only and I mean only just on the rectangular seasaw. Its almost as if the mounting plate is too thick... or it needs to go on the inside of the chasis...but if I did that it wouldnt line up to the shaft on the triple bearing block.

Any tips... advice... or is that just the way it is?

Cheers folks...

p.s above is in Phils terminology... if more description is required dont hesitate to ask

The angled plate does go on the INSIDE of the frames. If you have some slight offset with the shaft, try flipping it around and attaching it to the OTHER side frame.

Got pics?

The black flat plate is ONLY to be used as a template for drilling the holes if your frames do not already have them...It is then removed.

Cheers Chris....

Makes sense now... I just had it in my head it was a supporting plate... not a "tem" plate
