Default MCPX servo Slop

I have a fairly new MCPx and there seems to be an issue with one of the front servos.

You can actually move the arm that the swash linkage threads through about 1mm. The other two servos are nice a tight.

Anyone know how to tighten this up?

Paul

If the slop is in the actual servo arm,you can check the brass collar that is on the top of the servo they are threaded pieces and can come loose..

It is actually a cone nut that is on top of the servo shaft (see pic.). Also make sure the bearings aren't real loose due to loosing some ball bearings. The bearings are 1x3x1mm and you can get them for about $1 each off the web. On one of mine the plastic follower actually was messed up due to lots of crashes

I remove the brass cone nut by removing the bottom plastic gear and holding the shaft with pliers and then use other pliers to twist the cone nut off. When you reinstall a drop of green locktite or CA will hold it from moving.

Good Luck, Don

It is soooo tiny alonglick. I'm not sure you can find one.

Thank you very much Giddygal.
No need to send one, I managed to find a replacement and so far it is working well. I appreciate your intentions!

I'm still curious what size is it and where i can get it from..

Like a lot of the little subassembly parts for models, this is not available for purchase as an individual piece. When I needed a servo worm drive gear, I had to pull one off a "used-up" servo. Not a good alternative if you don't have one laying around.

There is a trade off in stocking piece parts versus assemblies.

I'm glad you got it working alonglick!

It's funny how the tiniest part can ground a heli.

I especially hate when it's because I am working on a heli and drop a tiny part that then disappears. I believe these things disappear into into a tiny black hole, then time travel to a future moment to be found just after it is no longer need it. You guys know it's true!

BTW freaks, a good way to reduce some servo slop on the MCPXs and micros is to remove the servo pushrods, take some pliers, and lightly squeeze down the hooked bit that connects to the servo.

Don't make it too tight, just enough to reduce play while still being able to re-connect the rod.

It's okay if it's a bit tough to hook back-on initially, just be sure it's not too tight to move once it is in position.

Do you guys know if the servos on the newer cps will fit the Mcpx? I just bought a bunch of spare parts for my Mcpx and am now worried I might not be able to get new servos if mine fail. Then I will have all these spare parts and no servos.
