If I factor out the radio....... in reality, probably in the $7-800 range. That's for the finished bird..... I didn't include the "I tried this and it didn't work parts'!

If anyone wants to know, I found out that you can use the Blade SR Speed controller with the Park 370 Brushless motor and not have the wiring mess that is 2 speed controllers on your Blade CP Pro/Pro2. I haven't really pushed it yet so I don't know if there will be overheating issues but so far It seems to be a nice clean inexpensive alternative for people who want to have brushless on their Pros..

I'm also running the 370 brushless and the SR 2 in 1. My 370 is getting way HOT. But I'm also running 25c batteires. I"m going to try some 15c batteries and see if it helps.

Has anyone tried the Park 400 brushless?? Its the same diamitter as the 370, but 10mm taller and can handle a lot more current.

Thought about it..... lots more current. The RZ350 or the eFlite 4900KV Hacker would be a better choice IMHO.

Well, I'm revisiting the Blade CP pro after a couple of years away and basically IMO , its best to leave the stock head alone and Not upgrade to any kind of CNC. The biggest problem of course is a reliable tail. I went thru many brushed tail motors and finally went with a Micro brushless outrunner and a 5 x 5 GWS prop. Eliminated the stock 3 in 1 and basically have two seperate ESC's and a 72mHZ receiver on the old stock Blade CP pro TX. An old gyro from a Gaui 200 that a friend gave me running in rate mode. Its NOT a "Crazy 3D' powerhouse by any means but a Fun Sport flying Micro heli suitable for the backYard ! ( Disclaimer: I cannot and will never be able to fly as Good as Kyle Stacy ! LoL, but Thanks for the inspiration Bro !)

Wow, I know this is an old thread, but words cant describe just how amazed I am that that kid can fly that CP Pro so amazingly. Very clean and precise control for such a young guy. Very Impressive! Hope I can get to his level some day!

Very nice work! That's what I love about this hobby, you can build, modify and fly as
you like. Even buy and fly RTF is one prefers.

I recently dusted off my old CP+ and spent a few bucks fixing it up so it would fly
a little better and stay fairly stable throughout loops and rolls. Well it worked out
good! Finally changed the blade grips to incorporate the bell/hiller parts, added a
GWS tail prop and went with brushless motor and ESC/mixer from a BSR that a
friend had scrapped due to a massive crash. He salvaged the motor/Esc for me,
gotta love friends with spare parts and a fair price, lunch and a beer

Other than that bought a set of superskids at a fleamarket for $10 and picked up
some plastic blades for $7 ea set. Bought two. For a cheap set of blades they
balance/track great and are tough. I also removed the extra shims on the feathering
shaft and installed two step washers each side with a step facing the "O" ring and
the other step facing the bearing. Trying out Trex "O" rings and so far so good, but
I haven't had enough flights yet to get an idea how long they will last.

I have four 3S 1000mah lipo's I don't use anymore on my SR so I put them to work
on the CP+. They work great and they last approx 7 to 12 min depending how I'm
flying that day.

I love my old CP+....it's here to stay......if parts run short in time I'll just modify it
with something else like other heli owners/modifiers/gadgeteers

i have a question about the cp,I have a blade cp pro but my tail keeps spining in circle every time i fly just spins in 360 i tried triming it but nothing can anyone help me fix this?

So, about 3 years since the last post on this thread, I will finally chime in. I got my original blade CP+ RTF back in '08, and after lots of 6" hovering and mostly minor damage, I pretty much gave up. The heli sat unused on a bookshelf for years. Fast forward to early 2012 and I figured I needed to throw it away or learn to fly helis. After reading Helifreak, RR, and using a sim and some good youtube instruction, I was finally able to really fly (basic maneuvers, FFF) my stock BCP+. The more I flew, the more I experienced some of the shortcomings of the stock setup. So after lots of research I slowly upgraded to:
Blade bell-hiller mixing (originally plastic and now full aluminum head)
Spektrum AR6115E receiver and DX6i TX
Spektrum DSP75 digital servos
Telebee HH gyro
E-flight 370BL motor w/ heatsink
1811 2000kV brushless direct drive on tail w/ 4040 GWS prop (all from hobbyking)
Turnigy 18A and 10A BL speed controls for main and tail (respectively)
Turnigy 1000mAh lipos, (although occasionally use the original e-flight 800mAh lipo).

Some of the upgrades were found new-in-package on clearance through e-bay. This really helped reduce the overall cost and make it worthwhile to upgrade this old heli. Being able to do fast forward flight with some confidence and NO TRAINING GEAR is what made it worthwhile.

I've really benefitted from all those earlier posts about controlling the DD brushless tail with the DX6i. That and the telebee gyro made the most difference for me.

Anyone else still flying the Blade CP? If we hold on to them much longer we can start posting in the "rare/antique heli" threads

I still a few times a year take out the blade cp. just for some backyard hovering around, its basically stock except for heat sinks and im using a lipo battery.

It was the one that started the addiction for me,

I have several Blade CPs and CP Pros. One pretty modded with nice servos and gyro. It's a fun heli to tinker with.

I just got back into it and installed a brushless motor in mine. Needing a new set of sturdy landing gear and a servo now lol
