It's flame retardant in that it won't support combustion. It will melt (it's still plastic) but it will not continue to burn.

Sure stinks when you try it though......

We use it more for the anti chafing purposes, the flame retardant nature is a bonus. It also looks a lot better than the multi-color servo wires.

These are the cameras going on one of the Industrial Turbines, along with 2 ea 5.8 Ghz downlink systems. They are available from http://wirelessvideocameras.com/ .

The fuel tanks are 1.5 liters (50 oz) each, and are located on CG, at least for the first Industrial Turbine. They are aluminum, and are available in different colors.

The second Industrial Turbine is goign to have a slightly different exhaust setup, requiring the fuel tanks to be more to the rear, but still close to CG to keep the CG shift to a minimum as fuel is used up.

Lookin good, Chris! Bergen birds are smooth flying machines, and capable. Mine has no problem at a gross weight of 36#, at 10,000' density altitude. I'm sure the new owners will be proud!

OK, quick update.

We have been working incessantly on this thing as the customer is coming to get it on Sunday. I have pics, will post them later, BUT,

We just completed the first time trial.

Full of fuel, the heli weighs in at 23Lbs. The camera mount all by itself weighs 12.5 Lbs.

At 22 minutes, the fuel tanks went dry.

I'm troubleshooting an issue with both Turbines, the Industrial and Robert's.

Here's the problem, In HH mode the tail is wagging rythmically. In normal mode it's perfect.

Both heli's have Gy 611 gyros w/9256 servo. Initial gain set up was at 35%, all manner of gain has been tried, higher and lower. A longer servo arm was tried with accompanying travel limits adjustments. No effect. The Gy 611 was forward mounted as seen in the build photos on Zeal Tape.

A Spartan DS760 gyro was installed, using the same servo, 9256, after setting the proper servo signal. NO difference. A JR 8900 servo was installed, and again adjusting the signal for that servo. No difference. The Spartan gyro was mounted on the tail boom, with Zeal Tape.

The transmitter on the Industrial is a Futaba 12FG, I have a 2 position switch (F) set to turn HH on and off, NOT using the Gyro sense page, instead just adjusting the Travel values to affect gain changes. Either way the screen on the 611 states the current Gain setting.

On Robert's, the radio is a 9303 2.4, again with the gyro on the gear channel, showing 35% on the 611 amp.

Mechanically, I've changed the complete tail unit, gearbox, slider, hub, blade grips, blades. Assy was checked and all is as it should be as far as thrust bearings, spacers, etc.

A new main gear, autohub, and mainshaft were installed, meshes were checked, All with no difference in the tail wag in HH mode.

Both Heli's are tremendously smooth, no high freq's, no low freq's. Today was fairly calm as far as winds, the past few days have been very windy, no difference either way...

It does better at higher headspeeds(1450-1500), but is still present. Tail blades are 130mm long.

In the morning I'll be changing the Turbine Gearbox, if for some reason, it's surging or pulsing. The Turbine itself sounds consistant in RPM, no surging that can be heard, and certainly not in the same frequency as the tail wag. And still, it doesn't do it in normal or rate mode.

I'm stumped on this one......

Chris,

That is indeed a stumper as you have already done all and more than I would have to isolate the problem. It does not sound like its "hunting" as you explained it as rythmically moving back and forth.

I had my turbine doing this - more like hunting - and found a more tight than desired control pitch links in the tail blade holders.

Once I got the tail where it was easy to move either blade by hand; as easy as the movement by manually turning the servo horn the problem disappeared.

I am now running 611 / 9256 @ 32%

Ron
