Default Reversable Brushless Question

With all the re-programming of micro brushless ESC going on...

Can someone tell me if the ESC can be re-programmed with a reverse range? Not for helicopter use, obviously.

I'd like to pick up a micro brushless ESC and re-program it to give it a full forward/reverse range so center stick is zero (think tank track skid steer). I know brushless controllers are able to do this, it's really a question of whether the programmable micro ESC can handle the code to do it.

Sorry, it's not a very nano specific question, but I'd be using the same ESC used for nano conversions and where else to you find the micro ESC programming experts?

Interesting question.

Try asking Helifreak user 4712, author of BLHELI firmware for SIlabs ESCs.

Should be possible. If you're an expert you may be able to tweak the firmware your self. Stock firmware only supports 0-100 throttle, and reverse as a setup option, from what I understand.

Thanks! I've sent 4712 a pm.

They do this on the quad for inverted flight. Warthox has video using the SimonK code and flying with this early setup.

Yep. I know reversible brushless ESC is a no brainer. But I'm wondering if requires more firmware space than is available in a nano sized programmable ESC.

I shouldn't think so. BLHeli keeps getting more parameters every revision, and the latest has "Rotation Direction" as one of them. If you could just scale it so that 50% throttle is 0, you're gtg.
Caveat- I don't know anything about the internals of BLHeli, just what's in the manual.

Hmmm... You're probably right. If the code is already in the firmware for both forward and reverse rotation, there's probably room to handle a 'switch' at 50%.

Sorry, just for a coarse clarification: Steffen (user sskaug) is the author of BlHeli firmware.
The main part of my work went into the developing of BlHeli-Setup, which has the task to provide the PC Interface for BlHeli (flash the ESC and edit the parameters).

That's weird. I could have sworn I forwarded a pm to sskaug after your reply 4712. But according to my messages sent box I did not.

Sent Steffen a new pm.

So, how is it going?
I am doing a project, in which I need my brushless motor to go 100% forward speed and 100% backward speed while throttle 0 is speed 0.

Hi!
So, how is it going?
I am working on a project to make a ping pong robot.
I need the brushless motor to run backwards and forward.
