Default Blades will not spin up motor is spinning

Hi all,

I crashed my 400 a while back and never got round to fixing it until now.

I have replaced the following -
Flybar
Main blades
Feathering shaft
Main shaft
Both main gears
Elevator servo
Receiver

When the motor is spinning up the blades are spinning but very slowly. The gears are engaging the pinion and the rear drive.

I am wondering if I have put the one way bearing in up side down? Would make sense right?

Sounds like the one way isn't installed correctly. Like its slipping between the gear

Yes, either the OWB was installed upside down, or the motor is spinning backward.

Thanks guys.

The blades are spinning clockwise so one would assume the motor is spinning the correct way.

I made the mistake of buying a main gear with no OWB installed.

Mangled the old one getting it out and ordered a new one and pretty sure I may have damaged that one too.

Any ideas on where to get one pre installed in the UK?

Yes exactly that so motor is engaging and the pinion is spinning at the expected speed but the gears are not.

If the OWB is wrongly installed would the tail still get to full speed or am I just being a bit thick?

I haven't replaced the tail shaft after it hit the deck so I have since ordered a replacement today. I have a new boom and drive belt too which I also want to replace, is it fairly straight forward to replace those? My thoughts are a lot of the heli will need to be dismantled.

I just got one of these used yesterday and have been flying it. Looking from the back you should be able to spin the blades clockwise and the tail will spin but not the motor and the lower gear only will spin. Spinning the blades counter-clockwise the the tail will spin and the motor will also spin plus both gears spinning. If something is wrong it's probably your OWB.
Also make sure your tail blades are spinning in the proper direction in relations to the main blades. It's very easy to have a twist in the belt and them spinning the wrong way.

Here is a link to the full manual with an exploded parts view at the end:

Hope this helps. I'm pretty new to all this myself but with HF'ers and my own diligence I'm getting pretty good at taking things apart and putting them back together.

I don't suppose you know of anywhere in the UK to get the main gear with OWB pre installed? Seem to be like rocking horse....... To get hold of.

it shouldn't be a big deal to press the OWB in. Just use a vice with soft facings on the jaws

If you want the blade part this is it:

Main Gear with One Way Bearing - EFLH1452 / BLH1652

I see it is on buzzflyer.co.uk but out of stock. I don't know all of the good places there to get parts. I know some people in the UK order from places in germany with good luck.

I did find it on rcplanet here: http://www.rcplanet.com/EFlite_Main_...p/eflh1452.htm
I can also find it on Amazon here in the US.

Fast-lad is a good UK parts place but I don't see it there.
