Default What an eye opener...

Checked the logs on my newly installed CC 120HV and holy crap!!!

90.5A peak and nearly 2700rpm headspeeds. I knew it sounded like it was a lot more insane than last session, but wow! I was thinking maybe high 2300's? (Scorpion 4025-630 [630Kv] with 12t pinion in case anyone was wondering)

I took the governor function off as it didn't seem to sit well with the tail and it made all kinds of weird hiccuping sounds that I didn't like. I think I'm going to ditch the Radix baldes too as they seem really flimsy (600mm SB's I think?). I also downloaded V4.01 as the V4 was said to be buggy. Looking forward to trying it out here in a bit. Just waiting to hear back from my flying buddy. Can't wait to try it again!

I am glad that you get your heli back on the ground in one piece

630KV motor is a bit high for 12S set up.

My hand calculator says the headspeed for this motor on 12T pinion at 100% is 2600 rpm. Yours is a bit higher so I guess the motor KV is not accurate and the governor does not work too well.

I think it might be that the software on V4.0 wasn't working well. I took it out today and put it at 100% throttle to see how much of a difference it would make and it didn't sound as high as it did the other day. Haven't checked the logs yet, but I'm guessing I'll be a lot more inline with the stated 2600. I only got blips of speed being on 1hz logging, so some of the numbers I saw might've been fully unloaded and going negative on the collective towards the ground. Guess I'll have some comparing to do tonight.

I think on an 11t it would be right where I'd like to be (2400-2500 max). Even if I governed it at that speed I would get a pretty reliable 2200 to 2250 I think? Not too sure if they make a 10t pinion in a 6mm shaft. That might be a little too low though (around 2150+/-). I'd probably get some pretty good flight times like that at least.

As to the 630Kv, it actually runs really well in this machine. It makes waaaay more power than should be legally allowed, so it's not a terrible match. Just doesn't have the gearing possiblities of a 550Kv.

630 kv with a 12t pinion is 2200 rpm governed at 94% on the govenor. dont know how you are having such high nubers are you sure u entered the right gearing information in the viewer if you dont it will show the rpm in a wierd way . i set up that exact setup on a fusion not too long ago and ran 2200 headspeed.

Did you tach it? or is only from the logs?

It's only the logs for now. I have the gearing set up correctly at 129 / 12 = 10.75:1. Judging from how my other 600's run, the headspeed is significantly higher sounding on the Fusion, but I don't have any evidence of it other than what the logger states. I don't hold that as gospel, but the calculations don't come too far off from what it shows.

Motor Kv X voltage (.95 for efficiency) = 630 * 47.3 (.95) = 28,309rpm
28,309rpm / 10.75 = 2633 headspeed.

Granted, that's just going off the average voltage and it will vary throughout the flight. But at 85% throttle it would give closer to 2240rpm which is actually right where I'd want to be. I'm just not sure I did the setup on the governor well enough for it to actually work. It pretty much went to full throttle like it was on fixed endpoints, only it did the hiccupping thing that I really didn't like. Even my Kontronik does that from time to time, so I think it's just something inherent with electronic governors. I guess it just doesn't bother most people enough to worry about though.

Just tach the hs. When I first had my fusion, 4025-550 with 13 tooth, the cc log said I was getting 3000 rpm at 75 % throttle. Don't trust the log.

You have to make sure you have the gearing and motor information set in the log otherwise you will get a weird reading it's a separate menu that is in the log display program now the castle link

I had everything right and it still gave weird readings. However my governor function never worked correctly. This was an ice version 1 80hv esc. Still I think the only way to know true head speeds is to tach them.

After taching it the headspeed was within 2-3 of the target this is with a high dollar optical tach an an audio tach on android (heli headspeed)

Well, I'd love to try taching it, but I'm never going to get the chance. Tail stripped on me in flight and totalled the model out. Both frames smashed all the way through and it just about took out my ESC and FBL unit. I lost the batteries, a brand new set of blades and likely all the money I spent on the stockpile of parts I have for this thing. Oh well. It was a fun run while it lasted...

Damn man that's a rough crash! So sorry to hear about your troubles. Don't give up on Outrage, they truly are great birds.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I feel your pain, as I'm still in mourning over a crashed 700 from a radio failure. It's a remit if I choose to rebuild it...

I'd use the group hug smiley if I had access to it from my tablet...

Ouch man... well as you said, it was fun while it lasted.

I would definitely watch those head speeds.... a guy I fly with blew the tail apart mid flight doing the same thing, and I blew my head apart a year ago, also, doing the same thing. I didn’t crash though, that happened in my driveway.

IMO, 2300-2350 is probably as high as one should go with this heli.

Which gears stripped and had you done the proper setup and mods in the sticky? They shouldn't ever be stripping anymore.. and really aren't for most of us.

Fusion crashes usually look worse than they are.. the frames are very cheap on this bird.. as are the rest of the parts.
I bet if you do the math minus blades its not even close to a rekit.

anyway.. get it back up.Fusion is by far my fave 50 size right now with its insane performance and design.

all white gears too?

Where have you been the last few months when we sorted out all these gear issues Tim? Gear issues are a think of the past for most all of us.
