Default Settings for SZ 4926 510kv motor with YGE ESC

Hello i have received the new motor. Before i was running a 700MX - 530kv on 13T. Now i put the new motor with 14T.

I'm using the vstabi GOV and i have changed the gear ratio, while the poles are the same 10 poles right?

On the YGE 120HV i have changed recheck the timing and pwm settings and i put 18° and 8khz as state on the motor instructions.

Well after a test flight the motor came down hot and the power wasn't as i aspected it was only a bit more powerfull than 700MX. And also the 700MX came down really cooler.

I think there is something wrong, so timing an pwm are correct?

I see also some recent videos of german team pilots running YGE and new motor but they have a lot more power, and i don't think that the problems are the lipos because the comparison between 700mx was done with the same setup.

Let me know what you think

In what way would you say the compass motor had less power then the MX? did it drop in rpm more, did you log that?

what headspeed did you set in the vbar?
Did you try increasing or lowering the governor gain or other parameters?

Ask David k he has run the new compass motor with the yge 120hv. Hopefully he can chime in here.

all parameters are the same. I will put my log in the next flights to see the real power. At the moment is a feeling and i can hear some bogs that are not in the spec. also the high temp is the problem.

Is it better to try other pwm values?

I know the pwm forumla (KV x Voltage x #poles)/ 20

510 x 44.4V x 10 / 20 = 11.23

So it will be better 10 or 12 khz?

Mine didn't include any instructions. I'm flying auto timing.

I don't recall any Compass reps reporting their 4926 setups.

Dont' forget you enter half the poles in the vBar gov screen. So for 10 poles you enter 5 in the box.

I'd try 10, then 12 for PWM. 18* timing is also a good start.you should see the motor cool down a bit, but watch temperature closely. I would recommend doing a minute of hover or slow circuits in each PWM and test the temp of the motor and ESC. Lots of folks are reporting that 10-12PWM with the YGE works well with Scorpion Motors and cools them down a bit. You can also try auto timing with the different PWM settings and see how the temps come out. The YGE has quite a few options that can get a bit confusing as it seems no 2 ESC manufacturers seem to report PWM and Timing the same (I could be wrong on that).

I'd be curious to see what Dave would report on his YGE settings if he's willing to share.

I have the same settings of 700MX which is also a 10 poles so i have already the right numbers in vbar gov as are right the rpm.

I will try different pwm and will see.

The motor data including the pwm are printed in the box. The timing is not writen because it depends a lot from the type of ESC.

mrmel target performance with your MX was 2007rpm and with the compass is now 2081 so there is no problem.

Have you tried other settings for governor gain and cyclic/collective add? With the new motor you should tune those values again. It could very well be that as soon as you increase those values the bogging is much less or even almost non existent. Thats also why with a vbar governor the motor matters much less.

I'd be curious about tweaking those cyclic and collective add values in the vBar gov. I'd like to see a little more pop out of my configuration and maybe that would do the trick. I think I'll borrow my buddy's vbar control panel and see what I come up with.
