...you are so very welcome Morrchew.

...and to Aris, thank you so very much for first dreaming and then creating the most unique 3D helicopter flying today...the Velos 880.

...and with the new year comes another new dream machine, the Velos UAV!
Building from the success of the Velos 880, the Velos UAV will certainly be a capable machine who's future missions are waiting to be discovered and flown. Very exciting!

Thanks Aris! All the best for you and the Velos team in the coming year!

Merry Christmas to you too! What's this antivibration plate all about?

It's not really a "anti vibration plate" as much as it is a "anti harmonic" plate. It still allows you to see vibration levels of the rotating components.

I use the rear FBL mount in the Velos by personal choice. That mounting location in my model has significant harmonics focused there which confuses the SK720BE I fly. It reports this with a red/green flashing light at the end of the flight indicating it is being blinded by the harmonic.
The same could be caused by a significant vibe level but the difference is what you see in the vibe logs.
Large harmonics or "noise" shows up on the SK vibe log as a wide consistent saw tooth signature.
It could have a small amplitude or large amplitude like my first log file in the photo.
If there were something out of balance you would see a single spike in the log at the frequency creating that vibe. That's the difference between the two.
With a large "noise" signature not associated with any specific vibe it can mask the actual vibes from the rotating components on the log.

I created a new foam mounting plate for the rear mount that is ridged and not prone to allowing wobble of the FBL during hard maneuvers.
This method is not the same as simply putting foam or foam with metal plate under the FBL which is a common practice. That method for me has created some very unusual flight patterns. A drunken sailor comes to mind.

The way my mount sits between the frame plates and with the amount of ridged surface area the FBL creates on the foam plate, the mount acts as a ridged mount, but because of the foam, it greatly softens the "noise" in that area and allows the SK to both report accurately the actual vibes it sees in the rotating components and give the gyro good vision on where the airframe is in space.

All this and no crazy wallowing of the airframe in flight.
You can go back to my thread titled "Rear FBL Mount" https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=762049 and look at the 1st post to see what it is, then go to post 6 to see the final version.

Here are a couple screen shots to show what I am talking about. First is without the ant harmonic plate and the second is from a flight yesterday with the anti harmonic plate installed.

First without the anti harmonic plate...

Now with the anti harmonic plate...

You can see by the file numbers I have 78...actually 79 as of today great flights with this mounting plate on my Velos (231 flights total)...and I won't be removing it.
