Default JR PC Data Transfer crash

I'm having a serious issue with the JR PC Data Transfer system I purchased. Whenever I try to do the initial download of data from my X9303, either the application hangs or the entire computer hangs. If only the application hangs and I force-quit it, I get a BSOD. I'm running Windows XP Home SP3.

One thing odd I noticed is that the red LED on the dongle takes about 10 seconds to come on after being plugged in. Is it normal for it to take that long to come on? I'm thinking maybe the dongle is bad.

Hmmm....

Not sure if this will help, but the DataSafe system on my JR 12X caused me some problems. Initially, it was because there was not a digitally signed driver for the 64 bit OS's like Vista and Win7. So I tried to load it on two other WinXP SP3 computers and it worked fine on one but would not play on the other. Never did find out why as the new USB driver for the 64 bit systems came out and it works fine on the Win7.

One issue I have found over the years; are you using a USB hub? Some of this stuff won't play unless it's connected directly to one of the computer's USB ports.

I'm connecting directly to my laptop's USB port. It's a 2010 MacBook Pro running Windows in Boot Camp. I tried using Parallels virtualization, but Parallels is unable to connect the device to the virtual machine for the Windows driver to even take over, which lends more credence to the possibility that the hardware is bad.

Oooo..... Mac running WinDoze.....

Can't help you there but I did have an issue with my Win7 running VMware for an WinXP install. There was a configuration issue with the inputs to the virtual machine vs. the native OS.

Perhaps something of that nature? Got a friend with a Windows computer who'd let you try installing it on a native system?

Other than that, I'm out of ideas since I'm not any kind of computer guru. I know just enough to be dangerous.... lol

It appears to be something with the XP driver and/or the chipset on the MacBook Pro. I tried it on my nephew's Alienware Windows 7 box and it worked fine.
