Problems with new Cellpro 4s
I just received my Cellpro 4s charger today and I'm having problems trying to charge my 2170 FP batteries.
I tried charging a pack after 5 minutes of flight and it error out with error 23. Error 23: Pack detect ran 8 times withtou finishing a single charge Pack may have bad cell. Check individual voltages. If one cell is full and another cell is empty, pack cannot be safetly charged. So that is the error that I get on both of my FP batteries. The cell voltages are all 3.78 or 3.79. I noticed that the charger beeps and if I switch to the screen with the individual voltages, that it shows cell 4 with 0.25V. If I check it after a few more seconds, it only shows 3 cells, as it should. I plugged my balance connector into the 4s charger by pushing battery side to the far left. I assume this is correct, as it is shows the correct voltages on all 3 cells. It gave me this error with 1C and 2.25A charge ratings. Am I doing something obviously wrong? Nathan Jones |

Are you plugging directly into the charger or are you using an adapter? If you are not using an adapter, that is your problem. The FP packs require the TP-CQ adapter from FMA.

Hmm, I guess that is the problem. Its strange that it plugs in fairly easily and also shows good readings.
I'll pick up that adapter next week when my current job is done as I live 30 minutes from FMA direct. I hate that I drive right by it at 7:20 in the morning and 7:00PM at night, both times I doubt they would be open. Anyway, thanks for the heads up about the adapter. Nathan |

There is an article in the current AMA magazine that tells what to do. I think you ahve to remove the 6th wire from the balancing plug for FP and TP packs to work with the cellpro.
I will try to dig up the info.

FMA Direct: Pure Genius
E2C_Mech,
Just got a Cellpro 4s with bullet connectors and deattachable alligator clips. I like it! Saved me some time from having to solder on connectors to plug into my PS. I dont use alligator clips much...Except for jumping my battle wagon. I have 3 Cellpro 4Ss. IMO the best bang for the buck. |

The guy who needs the help is Nathan Jones.
I also think it is the 5th wire not the 6th as there is no 6th..

Nathan clearly stated that he plugged the battery directly into the charger. He needs the adaptor I said he needed as I have the same brand and type.
The 2170s are a (unless they make a 2170 as a 4s as well as a) 3s battery and do not have the extra wire issue like the 4s batteries do. Even if they are a 4s battery with the extra wire, FP battery balancer adapter will not plug directly into the charger unless an FMA balance adapter is put on the battery pack. |
