Default Where to get spares....?

Hi.

As the Danish dealer has closed down, I wonder if I have to order directly from Hatz in Korea.

Is there an easier way? Or are there no dealers in the EU?

My Avantgarde ate quite a number of teeth of the main gear, so I had to take the one from my spare, otherwise complete kit. So I am all out of fishbone gears. Except for the V1.

Cheers
Erik

It really is insane that so many people base the quality of a heli on how many upgrades are available in the market. No Beam upgrades out there? Gee, it must not be a good heli. 'scuse me while I go order another $100 in parts to try to get my Align heli to hold together properly. It seems Beam lost the market simply because it was too good for it's own good.

For my E-4 450's I bought up everything I could from A-Main hobbies here in the USA when they had their Beam clearance. I really cleaned up when RC Bits in Australia did their clearance. I now have 16 pounds of Beam 450 parts. And no, none of them are for sale. I have 4 built 450's (2 V-1, 1 Advanced and one SE) and one E-4 SE NIB. I plan to keep them crash repairable for the foreseeable future.

I haven't searched for Beam parts for a while now but unfortunately it looks like Hatz is probably the last place to find anything. When they show up on ebay Beam parts are over priced. I watch RunRyder and HeliFreak classifieds and have picked up airframes for decent prices. One crashed and two flyable. Hopefully you'll find someone with a stash of parts for your heli that they're willing to part with.

Joe

Hi Turbojoe.

I think Beam has lost because they haven't pushed hard enough.

No dealers -> no sales. It seems like they are content staying in Asia.

I have a NIB kit, which I bought from fastlad in UK, when they pulled out.

I finally found a dealer in Belgium and bought the main gears. So I'm good for now.

I don't think the Avantgarde needs upgrades, but I'm sure it can be improved.

Like main axle thrust bearing blocks. Adjustable belt tensioners. Smarter design

for the battery tray - the bottom plate just hangs there doing nothing but break, if

something happens. The only upgrade I have on mine, is the aluminum anti rotation

bracket - and it doesn't even do what it's supposed to do. It can still easily move

backwards! A few smart tools for quick setup would've been nice - like with the 500.

Cheers
Erik

The only thing about the Avantgarde that turned out to be strange is the loud gear howl despite having a herringbone main gear design. You would think that type of gear would make the drive train less noisy.

Good news jonnyflox....let's hope some-one picks up the ball here in Australia. It's been almost a year since our last Importer/Reseller dropped the brand.

Next one (?) will be the third (3rd) to take it on.

Guess they are too reliable, yet staid in development, to make a profit on? If the company offered OEM add-ons for variety, there would be a broader market to supply and reap profits from. (this issue in the E4 450 Forum)

It will be of interest to me to watch any development they bring to the 'multi-rotor' market. So far, the Artisan looks promising, yet i don't have any price$ or specs. to work with for a comparison. The pics & features look promising, but a closer inspection and manual is warranted before deciding.

If that's motor noise then every helicopter would sound like that. That's gear noise.

Compare that noise to the "noise" from belt driven helis...it's totally different.

Both gear drive and belt drive helis have motors and blades so why the difference in sound? Answer: It's because the gears are louder and that's what you hear in those videos.

Can you please load a video of your own heli flying RasmusDK? I don't have mine running yet, and would like to see the difference?.
(or were you being sarcastic? )

Of course it has gear noise, what did you expect from a gear running that fast, seriously?

But saying its very loud, is really not true.
Compared to other similar powered helis, its quite on the lower site.

And if you do not think a eletric motor do make some noise, you are wrong.
Some more than other, and especially at some freq.

Here you have a old video beamhanger

My point is it IS loud considering it is using a herringbone gear.

BTW you posted a LHS flying video yet it still sounds very loud...

What are low head speed in your book?

And please do not jugde sound by a video. You just cant. Some microphones are more sensitive than others.

Have you actually heard one irl?

Thanks for the video RasmusDK...and i agree, online not the best for judging IRL.

I had forgotten about this. I bought my new to me 'used' E6 off the user 'timmytron'....he was the BEAM importer/re-seller here in Oz.

He and another guy, 'Colin (aka Col)' built my heli and flew it less than 10 times before i bought it off Tim, and they had a thread here about it;...

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=470497

Sadly, the video was pulled (by Colin iirc) but i do recall the audio being similar, even though the two motors of each (yours & mine) are most likely different, leading to whats heard as being geartrain.

I really like the motor whine under load, it's like some kinda turbo kicks in (audibly) and is one of the features that sold me to get one. I didn't get it as a RTF though, more like 'some parts required for assembly'.....

But not from a crash...no, no, no...i split it down to air-frame/blades/servo's/... I have a Quantum motor here and a few different FBL's but not settled on any of them. The only things i need are an ESC & Batteries....& looking to a Spirit perhaps, but too many projects, life, low $$, etc ...will be a W.I.P.....like so many others lol
