Painted an endless evolution canopy for my mqx to match my nano's TDR today. Got it a little too hot on one side and it warped a little bit. That's the second one i've caused to warp with the hair dryer. I think I'm going to get a Lachmund TDR for it when I have the extra money.

Resurrected my mothballed mQX and started flying it again in preparation for building my first FPV quad. Amazing how much better I can now control it in all orientations compared to the last time I flew it (summer last year).
Some pics or the first couple of flights for 2013 on my mQX:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LNDBPP there are videos online on how to install it. This one plugs in between your battery and the FC board. And another one I found: http://www.sf-design-solutions.com/mQX_info.html (here's the main page with ordering info: http://www.sf-design-solutions.com/) that requires you add your own plug but it's arguably cooler than the RAM light kit. |

Bring it on Skywalker !
Here is my $49 ebay MQX. Wasn't sure if l was gonna like a quad but now l am building a DJI Flamewheel with a Naza GPS system because of this little thing ,LOL. The first thing l did after a test flight was cut a flat spot in the top of the canopy and put a plastic shelf there to hold one of my old 808 cameras . Flies great except for decending from high altitude quickly . I am thinking it is because it is so light and the canopy being open from the bottom is giving it a parachute effect . |

$26.00 Ebay score! Flies like a new one. I gave her four new props and a new canopy today. LHS only had 2 motors in stock (180 or mqx) so I ordered a couple off Horizon tonight. She didn't NEED the props or motors (did have a hole in the canopy though), but I figured I may as well start off right!

Super Piggy
I bought this Park Flier Plastics canopy right after I got my MQX and promptly forgot about it. Since I'm recovering from a procedure I had some time on my hands, so I went ahead with the build. It wasn't difficult, but the parts are vacuum formed for lightness, but this also makes them rather fragile. I didn't leave enough of a lip to join the upper and lower halves, so they're held together with Scotch tape ( I also didn't want to glue them in case I need to get inside). Looks great ,but flies like Miss Piggy, especially descending. If it falls into it's propwash it actually waddles and porpoises, but you can fly it out with forward stick. I didn't weigh it, but I'm betting the canopy is almost double the original. I set the timer for 3 minutes just so I don't kill the motors or battery. It is funny to watch, but it's now an occasional flier at best (fortunately I have a Pico, Nano FPV, 180, 200, and a 350V2 to do real flying with).
Jake
