Default Servo sizing. Mini vs full vs canopy..

So I have been wondering. The G500 (original) was set up for mini servos with stock canopy. Or full size if you bought the canopy to accommodate them. I wonder if the full sized "shorty" or "low profile" like the MKS HBL575SL would fit under stock canopy.

Didn't want to highjack the thread in the main. I have wondered this for a while. Any thoughts?

But the sport's canopy can not be mounted on the original frame.
You can find a full size servo canopy :

I'm using full size servo on my goblin 500 sport (rjx 0521), and mini size servo (BK 5001) on my goblin 500 v1.
After more than 80 flights, I feel better the mini servo.
The full size are "too much"....

What I'm trying find out or get an opinion on is keeping the original canopybut running the full sized "shorty" or "low profile" servos. They have some servos that have great specs but the case is almost half the height too to bottom. I'm wondering if those will fit if any one has tried it.

Default Servo sizing. Mini vs full vs canopy..

Mini servos work well with the G500. There is little to no need to use full size servos at that blade length. Unless you like a heavy bird

Regarding your question, the original canopy can barely fit the mini servos. However they had released a larger canopy to accommodate the bigger full size servos. Having seen how tight the original canopy is especially on the motor and servo area and how big and easy to fit the 500 sport canopy is, if you have the option get the larger original G500 canopy no matter what servos you use. It will give you more space to work with.

i have a g500 before.. using the standard servo is nice to fly without front canopy but its supert tight. i fly without front canopy..
it become slight heavy too .
i guess the mini servo works best on this.

G500 is too heavy with standard size servos, IMO. It's already a heavy airframe for 500 size.

use some quality mini servos and you won't have any problems. I'd recommend either Xpert or MKS. Plenty of speed and torque for a G500.

I used metal gear Align minis and they worked fine too for a cheaper servo. There was no sense that they couldn't stand up to the job at all...

I actually have a brand new set of Torq minis for it. I was just exploring some options/ideas really.
