DX6i For Dummies
Hey guys:
I'm really frustrated right now and I'm hoping someone (or a few) can help me out. I'm trying to get my DX6i's IU and TH switches to work on the demo version of Heli-X. I've been reading these threads (https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=538755) and (https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=556020), but I'm just not understanding what I'm trying to tell my DX6i to do. I think my biggest problem is that I don't understand what the different menu options are. I can find my way around the DX6i menus and I know what throttle and pitch curves are, as well as swash mixing and D/R, Travel Adj, and Subtrims. What I'm REALLY struggling with is what the GYRO, MIX 1, and MIX 2 menus are for and if I even need to use them when trying to configure the sim. Archmage gave a pretty straightforward example, but he's using a DX8 and I don't have some of those options on the DX6i. Finally, I've read through the DX6i Manual, but it wasn't much help to me. Can someone help? Thanks! EDIT: P.S., I DO understand that the PC is only "seeing" the channels and not the switches/buttons. I just can't understand how to "bypass" the switches or perhaps how to "trick the system" into seeing the other two channels and get them to do what I need them to do. |

As you stated, you understand the sim side, it's just the DX6i that is giving trouble. (I have replied to this thread so I can remember to do this). Potted summary of DX6i basics (dont have one with me right now, so this is from memory): - DX6i has two menus a Settings and an Adjust menu (I'll explain the thinking behind this later) - All regular flying adjustments throttle/pitch, DR&expo, etc. sit in just 1 menu (adjust). - Once you set the model type, the adjust menu alters accordingly - Leave mixes alone unless you are trying to do magic - Leave travel adjust at 100 fore everything unless you have a specific need - Do not change sub trim unless you have a specific need - Throttle curve and Pitch curve work on the same stick in heli mode - Throttle curve and Pitch curve can be set for normal and stunt modes - Only a Pitch curve can be set for hold (throttle is set to a single value) - Expo, more positive is softer round centre stick. - Normal trims beep differently when moving to centre position (you want trims centred) - There is a hidden menu to calibrate the sticks - Use travel adjust to soften overall stick travel - Use monitor screen to view changes - When you plug in trainer cable, DX6i turns on without transmitter and locks to last loaded model. If you want to change models, unplug trainer, turn on TX, change model, turn off TX, plug in trainer cable. Hope this helps till I have time to construct the guide.

Glad to hear you're working on some type of guide. As a new user, I find the so called manual a joke.
