Battery fits to tight

I have the Turnigy Nano-Tech 160's and they fit to tight for my liking. I already have broke the landing gear from putting them in and out. I took the label off and they are still to snug.
Just wondering what others have done.

They must be a little fatter than others, I have four Turnigy (not Nano) 160's and a couple of Hyperion 160's which are a bit longer and they both they fit fine. I think some have cut or split the holder at the bottom to allow for the fatter batteries or take the bottom off the holder and use velcro like in the UM planes.

I have done exactly what you have recommended. Just snip the bottom support right in the middle. The batteries still hold tight and only move around if crashed hard enough. Interestingly enough, even if they do slide back a bit, I don't notice a change in flight until I land and see it's moved back. YMMV

Yes the Turnigy nanotech 160s are a bit fat.

I tolerate it because some of my other batteries are a bit loose - Hyperion 160s for example - but if you really want to widen the battery mount you can stretch it using pressure and a little heat. For example by pushing some needle-nose pliers open while heating the mount very briefly with a cigarette lighter.

I enlarged my mCP X battery mount that way, just be gentle with the heat, and don't attempt it with the skids attached to the heli!
