Default GAUI X5 vs. BEAM Avantgarde

Hi all.

When I finally got my X5 in the air, I thought: Hey, this is a GREAT heli.
Smooth and silent. I was happy, really liking this bird a lot.

Then I took up my BEAM....And I discovered, I was twice as happy with my BEAM!
Way more powerful, smooth and precise. Love it, love it, love it.....ad nauseam.
The 600 blades have so much more area than the 520's - that must be part of it.

Why everybody hasn't got one, I'll never understand. Well, I do know, unfortunately.
The one way bearing has been problematic. And the only supplier in sight hasn't got the few parts I'm missing (and had to take from my second, boxed kit), and he
probably won't get any because he sells so few.

We have now completed the full, evil circle.

Merry Christmas and I wish you all a great 2016 season

Erik

Hey mate

Its almost a year ago
U still have the Beam?
What are your experiences you've made?

If you need parts, you can order them at Ercmarket! Well that's not USA but he's having most parts in stock

Hi.

As the dealer in Denmark closed up, I have had to buy the herringbone gears I needed
from eRCmarket in Belgium. At least that's part of the European Union - like Denmark.

And so far the only other thing that has happened is, someone with a Goblin500
really wanted to make a swap with my Gaui500. Well, same size.
Come spring, I'll try it out.

I'm still very, very happy with my Avantgarde, but I haven't flown much this year.

I may report on the difference between the Avantgarde and the Goblin500.
I had to buy new batteries, because the batteries were crap - swollen nanotechs.

Merry Christmas to all and a great 2017 season.

Cheers
Erik

Well, I haven't had problems since I bought the newer version.
It has larger area - using a bush instead of just the mainshaft.

But I haven't flown that much. We are just about to start the new season here.

Cheers
Erik

The problem is that it suddenly slips, and you loose all power.
Beam have made different types, but it still won't hold.

I have had the problem happen in manoeuvres you don't want to loose power. But luckily I managed to auto it down every time.

But still, it's not good enough. But for 80% of pilots it will last long. 😉

I have never had a problem with the one-way on mine. But my flying style is smooth, more like F3C. I have even used the original version one-way and main gear with no problems. They pretty much fixed it on the V2 onwards.
