Default Sealer or no sealer using HOK?

I use pretty much HOK exclusively and have always had a question on sealers. Per their tech sheets they state that a sealer is a must for uniform coverage and more importantly to me better adhesion. Problem is that with spraying such small items I find that I work hard to get my primer nice and flat and sand it back to 600 grit then apply the sealer ,kd3000 mixed in a 4:1:2 ratio, apply it and have to always sand out a couple dust nibs or the like.

How many of you guys use a sealer between your primer and basecoat?

HOK doesnt like other paint systems, they dont mix well, it hot and it will react by wrinkling the paint. Sealer will make sure that there's a barrier between their paint and for adheision for the topcoat.

Sealer is always a must do if you want a quality finish. With it, you will get good color hold out, much better adhesion, and truer colors. Also 600 wet or dry is too fine for sanding primer. Better to use 400 wet or dry for better adhesion of paint. I would use 600 to knock down any nibs after sealing. I don't like to mix paint brands, but House of Kolor, and PPG, are compatible.

the new sealer line by HOK you can tint them so you will use less paint cause most people should be able to paint a cano with one once of paint if you use a sealer. check out coast airbrush and look at the new hok line they also have sealer color cards so you can find a sealer that works best for you . and if you don't have a compressor and large set up you can not get the paints in a rattle can so there is another option for some people.

Most sealers can be tinted. I always use sealer. I think I have somewhere around 3500 paint jobs under my belt over the years. I only do helis for the local guys I hang with. Last one I did cost over $250 just in materials.
