Default Which way to go?

Ok. So right now i have a Dx9, a dsmx sat , a drone dmsx sat that apparently has self bind feature. A Ikon2 fbl unit and a Micro Beast plus . I originally planned to use a sat with MB and call it a day but...no its a 500 so two sats or reciever is what im told. Ok so Ikon supports two sats... But should still use a receiver. So im looking at receivers for DX9 not too many choices and it looks like running those receivers with an ikon2 is having issues. What about telemetry and using the fbl governor feature..... I need some direction here what are you Spektrum 500 size and better guys doing?

You dont need to use a RX with the Ikon, just the two sats. You can get all the telemetry and RPM data in the Ikon logs using sats, but you must use the little drone RX instead of the two sats if you want live telemetry as of now, but that RX is not "officially" designed for large helis according the Horizon although many guys are using without issue.

Thanks for the response. Any considerations for sat placement. I am planning one on the boom antennas pointed to side and one on the bottom antennas pointed to nose and tail. Same bind process with 2 sats?

Yes, they both bind at the same time using the bind checkbox within the Brain software.

The need to be placed oriented 90* to each other which is what you are describing, and you want the whiskers to be clear of any carbon fiber which can block signal.

Is that the SPM4649T?

I use the SPM4649T on my Goblin 380 and Trex 600E Pro with my DX9.
I get full telemetry from the Castle Edge Lite and Edge HV ESCs and the Brain 2 (same as the iKON 2).

The SPM4649T has been reliable and less than 10 fades per flight.
Never any Holds or Frame Loss.
The newer version has been tested to 8.4v.

I've been using it since MSH started beta-testing the bi-directional Spektrum SRXL.
SRXL is a single wire serial connection from the receiver to the gyro (similar to the sat connection - but using standard M-to-M servo cable).
All the servos connect to the gyro.

But, the SPM4649T doesn't have a "self bind", so you may have a different RX.

Or, use the AR6600T.
Connect to the iKON 2 using the SRXL link.
The AR6600T will be next to get the bi-directional SRXL.
It has an internal DSMX receiver plus a port for an remote DSMX sat.
And, it has telemetry.
The SRXL port will allow the iKON 2 to decode all 9 channels of the DX9.

He probably has the SPM4648, which has autobind but NO telemetry...
