Do you think your frame will be shot if you crash and it pops the boom off with extra screws?

I'm sure it's a possibility. But seeing how the boom cracked in the crash pics another member posted I think it's more likely the boom would break off from the screws, leaving screws in frame intact. Or just snap off at a different spot in boom. Boom material is much more brittle than the frame.
