Feel for that guy. Gearbox stripped is what it sounded like.......soon as he switched to idleup. Sucks.

Video is 2 years old already. Yes a bit close for something like that to happen but good response nevertheless. Looks like it happened during the maiden flight. Lets be honest - many of us specifically years ago did take off with similar distance. Its a good reminder that we better be more careful.

Good reminder!

Watch him react, the heli moves so quick that it is in the ground a second or two before he has actually moved away.

Looks like a link popped off. That sucks and have had similar incidents happen. I spent a lot of time fixing only for something to go wrong again. I was so mad and frustrated.

If he built that all by himself I can't imagine the frustration he must have felt after all the time and effort put into it then see it crash in less than 30 seconds.

I learned about two years ago that you shouldnt switch from like a low HS to a Buzzing baggilion rpm high HS hovering loaded, especially on a fresh build, never that close ever, (100 ft min.) and in flight, yet warmed up ( brittle) or overwarmed up ( meltymelty). Land gently and go )8.. switch, takeoff and fly. If you have a good 700 you should be capable of a touch and go from a distance.

Ive thrown grips on 450pro, doing that, got the gain wobbles, doing that, snapped a one way on a 550 e doing that, stripped tail gears doing that, took apart crashed tourqe tubes and saw the insert deformed after doing that.

Maybe a time ramp would help against that if your TX supports that.
I use a 2 sec time ramp for each rpm change (of course not for hold). This way switching from low rpm to high rpm is super smooth, the tail has no troubles and the sound of slowly ramping up the rpm is super cool.

Other than that, the sound of the crash was really terrible, poor guy.
