Power loss
Just pulled my 600efl out of mothballs. Lipos still in great condition. Spooled up to a five foot hover and after about a minute the power just dropped off. Was wondering was it the motor or the hv80 esc or BEC. What's your guess. Used to hav a blast with this beast with no problems then all of a sudden this problem. Is it the forest for the trees thing ?

Though you state they're in great condition, my guess would be that the batteries are basically dead. Did you check voltage after the end of that flight? ESC, BEC, and motor should not deteriorate in storage under normal circumstances, while batteries do.

Power loss
Thanks for the quick reply. As soon as I landed I checked the batteries and both were at 93%. I also use these batteries in my quadcopters as well. I've been working on my drones and let the 600efl sit in the closet. And decided to ringer out but that didn't happen.

If you have any form of logging I would make sure the Fbl didn't lose the signal. But that's doubtful its is the case.
Check the IR of the motor first. Also check for a short in the motor. Would be the first thing I would do. If its shorter grab a new motor and try it in the old ESC. If that doesn't work you would need that as well. |

What about a rebind and try it again, as long as you stay close to the ground that shouldn't be an issue. I've had random issues before like this that a restart or rebind seems to fix. Or even re-install the entire model program again into the tx, I had a corrupted model once, and a re-install fixed it. It obviously isn't the batteries, and as long as you didn't retire the 600 with issues you had forgotten about (can happen to us ageing flyers), might be ok. Good luck

Might be LVC kicking in, older lipo's (3 seasons or more) are never in great shape.

If this is a CC Edge / Ice 2, your description sounds like "Low Voltage Cutoff". The batteries may be fine on the drone, but the heli may be pulling more out of them than the drone While they may read "93%" on the battery checker, they could have a high internal resistance (IR) that will result in a much lower "real time" voltage under a real helicopter-sized current load. But, if this is a CC Edge / Ice 2ESC, you can enable the logging and if it happens again, you will be able to see the actual reason for the problem.

My vote is on the batteries as well, maybe one cell has very high IR and just drops voltage when under load. The Castle log will be able to tell you if that's the case. Since you said that power just dropped off, do also check that your one way bearing is in good condition and that it doesn't start slipping under load...lots of things can start to seize up or fail after so much time of inactivity...
