Default 450 pro DX6 help

Hey guys,

Had nothing but troubles setting up my 450 pro to fly nice (and easy as I'm a beginner) on my DX7. I got myself a DX6i yesterday as I can use that more confidently in the settings but I didn't like to cheap it felt.

I decided to bite the bullet and order a new DX6. It's due to arrive Thursday.

Could any one help with the settings? From start to finish? I can barely hover the thing as it is so bare that in mind and make it a soft set up please.

I'm hoping my problem is with set up as I can fly my MCPX BL and MSRX perfectly with no issues!

Thanks in advance

I'm unsure if it's 3gx? But it's flybar?

Is this your first headset up? Why can't you hover it? Do you think it is too touchy or does it have a bad drift?

This guy has some good videos with some pretty good info. He might use other transmitters like the dx9 or the dx6i but it will still apply to the dx6, I have the dx6 gen 2 and when I was first starting out I got a lot of info from that channel. Let me know if you have more questions and I'll see if I can help. The first video is the first of a series where he will show you everything, including creating a new slot in the transmitter.

Ah...if it's a flybar version then it will have a gyro rather than an FBL unit. And we will also need to recruit one of these guys who has experience setting up FB helis since I only know the FBL world.

@flybar guys...OP is able to hover his MCPX comfortably, but actually finds the 450 Pro is quite a bit less stable. Any thoughts on where to start between mechanics and electronics? (I'm assuming the swash and tracking are at least eyeball good.)

I'd start with any related videos you can find like the ones linked above and start on smaller bird first with the new tx.

Definitely learn how to properly set up and balance a flybar head or it will not fly right.

^^^ This.....

FB heads need a lot of care to fly correctly. Don't get me wrong, it becomes second nature with a little practice.

Have you looked at these videos by Finless, very instructive.....

Hint:...Pay close attention to the part on "CCPM interaction" (mixing)

Look at CCPM setup part one and two.

Also, which gyro are you using, not that it matters with FB stability, just curious.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I spent ALOT of time going over my set up with a very helpful gentleman I have come to know on Facebook.

We sorted an issue with the rudder (wouldn't headhold or rate!) we went through a lot of handset settings and I tried a little hover, badly spun when powering up so adjusted tail again til it was perfect with zero handset trim..

Up she went! Wasn't the best flight as it was a small patio backyard as it was too dark to fly over our lawn.

It didn't end well.. clipped the house with the tail, stripped TT gears again (5th set now) but all stripped down waiting on parts arriving tommorow.

The awash plate is levelled by eye (it was visibly out!)

Test flight tomorrow night in a sports hall!

Pilot error is easy to correct! At least you've got the heli behaving better.

started off setting up my MCPX BL as I know how that does and should fly. I figured if I can get that set up then I can do the Trex...

On the dx6 or the BL? Which one broke? Either way, should just be a resolder hopefully. The dx6 is great, I am now flying with ikon and I wish I had the dx8 so I can do more things but I can stil manage with the dx6. The gen 2 series seem to be pretty power hungry. I went and ordered a pulse 4000mah 2s tx lipo with balance leads for it and it's great but I also have an after market charger with an adapter loom so I can charge just about any battery. I would look into a transmitter battery for it if you use it a lot. I think spectrum makes one for it.

The wire broke on the BL, I had a shot but haven't got any solder removing gear so gave up. Dropped it off with an electronic guru this morning!

I noticed on binding both the BL and the 450 that s soon as it binds it pulls the awash down one side badly?

All settings are straight from my DX7?

I assume your DX7 is an original or S version and not gen 2, in which case the model files won't work on your new DX6.

It's DX7EU to be exact?

Just to check, this is what I have on my new DX6 now..

In the order it's listed..

Swashplate - 3 servo 90 degree
Trim set up - 0 (this was 5 on originally? Guessing i want zero?)
Frame rate - 22ms

In the actual settings

D/R expo -
Aileron D/R 80% expo 25%
elevator D/R 80% expo 25%
Rudder D/R 70% expo 30%

Throttle curve

0 35 56 69 82

Pitch curve

30 40 50 70 100

Swashplate - I'm unsure what this does to be honest.

Aileron, elevator and pitch all on +60% which the DX6 put as standard? Expo INH and E-Ring INH

Gyro - INH

Tail curve - INH

Mixing - INH

As above I can barely hover, I paid strong money to have the heli set up and these are the settings on the DX7 he put on so Should be good.

Any advice welcome

It's been awhile since I set up a flybar so I can't remember all of the settings off the top of my head. But right off im pretty sure the swash type should be 120 degrees. All of this should be explained in the first video series I linked.
