This is interesting. I would really want to know too.
I know it there is a way but it's quite involved.

1- You get the 150x ESQ, or you desolder the one on your unit.
2- You install a mSpirit fbl in place of the MRS/GRS unit.
3- You pug your sbus FrSky receiver et voilà.

Thomas from Spirit system is already flying a 150 with that arrangement.

Added bonus, with the appropriate Smart Port receiver you may be able to get full TX integration with your Taranis. That means adjusting all your fbl parameters directly from your Tx. No more cable to pc, Bluetooth or Datapod.

Full Tx integration like the big guys do with Vcontrol and Jeti. And all this for a few hundreds instead of a few thousands.

I intend to go that route. I already have a Q X7 with xsr receiver and I'm studying hard to master it. I also have the mSpirit pre-order. If all goes well it should ship from Tchécoslovaquia next week.

what about just replacing the Futaba FHSS receiver and keeping the MRS/GRS unit? Is that possible?

Yes you can remove the fhss receiver but the socket on the fbl only takes dsmx/2 sat signal. What this fhss receiver output is unknown but if it is sbus or ppm than just find out the pin and everything is set.

Well, someone has posted that they cut off the FHSS module with no repercussions to the GRS, so I might do the same and see if I can connect the FHSS to a multirotor flight controller to see if it is SBUS or PPM. It looks like there are 7 pins connecting the Rx to the GRS so I'm inclined to think it is PPM. Hopefully we can get something together so we don't have to use a Spektrum Sat and JR module to control this heli.
