I managed a few flights over the weekend.
766 (806) with Gr 24Pro, and a E7 with Gr18. Both flown at low head speeds. and both with Graupner ESC's. Need to do some tuning this weekend. chuck |

Well i haven't given up on the GR-24 Pro, but i did put a V Bar on my 806. Still going to play with it on my E7 when it gets rebuilt. Maybe try different mounting tape and play with the settings more. Just couldn't seem to get rid of a head shake at higher (1700 to 1800)
rpm's. chuck |

I've been flying my G500 with a GR-18 gyro and it's phenomenal!
It's not quite as refined as my Bavarian Demon, but it's pretty close in the control it gives you. That could just come down to tweaking it to the way I like but overall I'm extremely impressed with it. Being able to tune the gains from the radio with the dials in flight is just icing on the cake. I'd put this gyro up there with a Vbar as well. If I didn't know what was in it I'd say it could pass as one.

I'm not sure if you can use a regular GR-18 +3XG. I think you need the Vario version but if I'm wrong I'd like to know for sure. One is like $80, the other is about $150 so pretty big jump just to get the altimeter function. I'm not sure if the regular GR-18 +3XG will support swash mixing or what the reason was that it can't do helis. But I would confirm it before the attempt. It would kind of suck to do all that work for nothing.

Graupner briefly considered enabling the airplane/heli firmware to run on the non-Vario version, but I guess they decided there was more money to be made by requiring the Vario version. I actually had a beta version running on a non-Vario GR-18.

I think I would be good paying about $100 for the gyro, sans Vario, but heli capable. $150 still isn't a terrible price to pay considering just how good the little sucker flies. But I'm a little more inclined to use a Bavarian Demon even though I have to hook it up to a computer. It lets me put the gains on the dials just like the Graupner so I can tune in flight, plus it has the bailout whenever I get around to programming that up.
If they could ever throw a bailout in there then I'd be a lot more enticed to use all graupner stuff. Pretty soon here I'm going to have two full machines on G-units at least

A proactive governor would be my justification.
