Default Good 500 Size Heli

I have an Align Trex 450 Pro. What is a good 500 size heli besides Align. I have an Align and I love it but for my 500 I was thinking something other than Align.

The Compass eXo is fantastic!

Entirely new frame design (formed, monocoque carbon fiber), totally rigid head, teardrop tail boom, ultra precious 700 sized tail system, and outstanding 3D flight performance!

BAD ASS EXO (2 min 39 sec)

That does seem like a nice heli. What are some others in the 500 size range. I've found SAB Goblin 500 but would like to know others in the 500 range.

Please tell me size of ESC used. If I ever decide to retire my 425mm trex this is most likely what i'll go to. The air-frame is just impressive. Wonder if my 3 x Align 525 and 535 tail servo's would work.

hopefully it doesn't take as long as the oxy2..im not comparing lynx to synergy, but after the unveil, it looks fantastic..even greater if we can get it in a few weeks..

Relisys190,

100 Amp HobbyWing.

If your servos are roughly the same size as the JR ELS 01 servos, they should fit. The eXo takes Mini-Servos.
Uncle Robbie likes this.

I love the goblin, easy maintenance and adjustments are quite easy too. Paired with a Xnova 1200 kv motor, this this is a beast. I also have a HD Cell 500, but not sure where they are going. It flies great, but there are some quirks to deal with and they now don't have any distributors in the states. MSH Protos also has a 500 class heli as well. The Align 500X seems to have some teething issues with their tail belt pulley.

Regarding Align 500X, my advice is "run and don't look back!!". It's a waste of money. Mine crashed due to the issue that Solmanbandit says and I decided not to waste more money nor time on it so I saved the electronics and trashed it. It's crap.

If you'd like a fine, inexpensive heli in the same size scale (470mm blades) you can give Logo 400 SE a shot. The kit is worth about 300€ including blades. It's not a last generation heli, but some buddies have one of those and believe me, they fly impressive. Probably I'll get one of those to replace the 500X.

Of the current models I'd say you have a choice of:

Compass Exo
Goblin 500
Logo 400SE (old model)
Logo 480 Extreme (current model)
Synergy 516 (not released yet, but looks really nice)

I have all of them (except obviously the Synergy) and all are superb.

The Align 500 looks ok on paper and is a good price but there seem to be a few issues reported but I'm not an Align fan generally.

Compass eXo, no doubt!

Synergy 516 will surely be an excellent heli but it is better to wait until it is debbuged.

Goblin 500 flies heavy.

HD 500 on paper is good, I dont really like the skids, look weird compared to what the HD750 has, but most important is that I am not sure how consistent the production will be in the future.

Wont consider anything else.

They would fit but I would highly recommend going with a stronger servo.

Got the eXo with the Align 530 and 535 servos and don't feel they are weak at all. Bear in mind that I also have them reversed, the tail servos on the cyclic and a cyclic servo on tail. No complains at all

I have a old Trex 500e and it's still my favourite heli. Never had a issue or problem and it's just nice to fly, almost relaxing.
Also like the Protos 500, lightweight little rocket

I have been flying my good old stretched
Compass Atom 500 (515 mm blades) for almost 5 years now.

My next 500 will definitely be a Compass eXo... It can take a beating:
