Default AR636 panic recovery mode

I just put together my Visionaire and I want to verify panic mode works.

Is there an visible indication it has been enabled like an LED or something. How about some tell tale action? I like to try everything on the bench prior to putting it in the air.

What channel is it on? The manuals assume you have a Spectrum Transmitter but I have a JR X9503. I generally put the rescue function on my helis on Aux 2 (CH7) which I have wired to a momentary switch.

The SAFE modes defaulted to working on the IDLEUP switch so I just left them there. I did reverse them so Normal is Precision Mode, and IU1&2 are 3D Mode.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried searching around but didn't find anything.

Have you sorted this out yet?
I have a Sukhoi SU-29 with the AR636 and I'm not sure there is a real test per se and TBH I have never needed to use it, however I can tell you how mine behaves.
If when first connecting the battery and switching the 636 on (mine has a on/off switch between the esc and receiver) you connect with the tx in "normal/3d" mode you will notice all the control surfaces will do the usual back and forth a couple times while initializing, then apply some throttle to engage the gyro. With the plane just sitting on the ground if you activate rescue/safe mode the elevator will set to a nose down position and hold it the untill you move the sticks. When you release the sticks, after a couple seconds the elevator will return to a nose down position.
Switching out of safe will return the elevator to it's neutral position and the gyro will compensate in the usual expected manner
I hope this helps

Thanks, yes, got it all sorted:

Mode: Channel 5 - Precision uses Low Rate and 3D uses High Rate so you can hold a stick at full deflection and see the different max travel in each mode. If you pump the throttle once, it will enable the AS3X and you can then see it correcting when you move the plane.

Panic: Channel 6 - Turn the plane inverted and when you hit panic it will try to roll it upright.

Got to fly it Sunday. All worked great.

Good to hear!
So how does it fly? The Visionaire shares some parts with my Sukhoi but I have read some reviews that say it's better than mine. Mine flys great and I love it. I run mine on 4s with 11x5 prop and it's ballistic, unlimited vertical climb, turns on a dime and yet floats beatifully at a brisk walking speed!
The only issue I had was a bit of gyro shake at high speeds, so I broought the pushrod in a couple holes on the horn and fly mostly in precision mode

I only have two test flights on it so far, but so far so good! Amazing plane for the price and a 30 minute build
