Default Anybody flying their 500x

We have a week of 60 degree weather here in Michigan, so I'm getting out and still love my 500x . bought the red eyes canopy but scared to use it, it's just to pretty to mess up. when ever I get it flying really good I do something stupid and it is flying very good. I would put it up against any heli swinging 425mm blades to 430mm.

Yes I have crashed. Crash cost is not to bad. The blades can be the worst depending on what you buy. I have rails on mine and they are 60 bucks , but you can get cheaper blades. Of course a total rebuild might not be worth it , could probably find a used one cheaper.

What did you do about Servos, just keep running stock ones or did you find a good replacement? Horizon tricked us on the "standard" size

Using KST DS 525 on tail, but am going to try bls815, might have to put a washer on the frame to add a little width for the one's up front. The elevator servo might take some modification . Those servos are about 53 a piece. I crashed a few months ago and amain still had gear sets so I cheaped out and used those 5 bucks a set I believe. Look at (new servos Jacoby) on this site read what he says.

Default Blade 500 3D / 500X conversion

I just got my Blade 500 3D in the mail today, bought it used, only 3 flights with no crashes. virtually brand new for $175. It didn't come with any paperwork and no battery pack. It's all stock as far as I can tell with futaba servos. What battery pack / voltage should I be looking for? From what I can tell it's 22.2v 6s. not sure how many mahs will fit or what is minimal for decent performance as far as 35c - 65c battery specs.

I have already located the parts and have them ordered to convert this to 500x. was actually pretty cheap for a 500 class heli. Under $100 for mechanical conversion. Will probably go with another Brain FBL since it's same as I use on my trex 450 pro dfc and the only fbl I have any idea how to do even a basic setup with.

It seems to me anything bigger than 3000 mah will be hard to fit under the canopy. I run a pulse 2600 45 c and 3000 45c. The stock eflight battery is 2900.

I run turnigy blue 3300 in my 500x and 600x. It is a little tight on the 500x but works.

I went the cheap route and scored a brand new align 2100mAh for $13 on aligntrexstore. I dont plan on using it for normal flight power pack, but it let me setup my 500 3D and get a maiden flight in. I'll be ordering at least one 3000mAh pack as soon as I get paid for July. . It's really hard to keep up with the hobby on less than $800 disabled monthly income. I'll pick up another battery in august so I at least have 2 for this heli. Lucked out on the deal I got on my 450, it came with 4 flight packs. I think the 500 is going to be my favorite heli, flybar or not. . it's just sooo much easier to see the heli's orientation in the air and not get confused as a new rc pilot.
