Traded my my Goblin 380 #3 airframe with quantum motor, for a Goblin 500 frame. Electronics for the 500 scavenged from my Logo 400.

I love the 380, but what was I thinking having 3 of them! LOL!

If your just starting out and likely to be crashing then I wouldnt get either. Their expensive to build and crash. But if you've been flying for awhile without crashing then its really just a size preference and what area you have to fly it in.

I'm ok, I crash very little these days, much more sim time to thank for that, I'm just about to join the local club, they have a massive flying field so I shouldn't be restricted in that sense......just can't decide on which one

If money isnt an issue id just go ahead and go w the 500. The 380s are pretty pricy so you might just spend a lil more on the 500. You can save alot by buying used. Hell, my x3, 380, and now my 500 sport are all used. Ive saved alot of money doing it that way. So to answer your question, go w the 500 if your not crashing much anymore!

That's what I'm leaning towards tbh, love the look of the 500 sport and want something different

The G380 is pretty close to the G500 sport in price. While I like the G380 a lot, if I had the space to fly the 500 any time I wanted, I would go 500. When I go to the field, I always prefer the 500. However I love to grab some flight time during the week at my local park so my 380 gets more airtime.

Thats what has me stumped too, everyone says a 500 flies better than a 450 but the g380 apparently flies like a 500 anyway but the price is next to no difference at all here in the UK for a 500 sport or g380

I guess being close in price is relative. Here in the states, if you buy the 500 sport combo which is a good deal. Then you buy a 380 with servos, esc, and motor (price will vary on what components used) it really is about a $150 difference. Batteries will change the price a bit more. Plus you get extra blades with the 500. I don't really see it being much of a price difference at all between the two.

As far as the G380 flying like a 500, I don't totally agree. It is stable and locked in, better than a lot of 500's out there but it really isn't the same experience as flying a goblin 500. Sure they are both stable and can do the same sort of flying but the 500 is more stable, more powerful, easier to see, and to me just flies better.

It seems "flies like a 500" is the new way to say "this small helicopter flies great". I've seen people say that the oxy3, "flies like a 500" and that isn't true either. Sure it isn't this crazy out of control little heli, but it certainly does not fly like a 500 either.

In the end, you will be happy with either the 380 or 500. Just be honest with yourself and decide which you want more, which will not intimidate you more and keep you from having fun, and which you will get out and fly more.

Having fun and flying is what it is all about!

That's perfect thanks, looks like it'll be a 500 sport, its the one I want the most, plus I fancy a bigger heli anyway

i've been thinking about selling my 570 and getting another 380, but i'd take such a lost on what I have in it, just don't use it any more , flown it once in the last 2 years, its been sitting , that and the 500.wish the 380 came out before these bigger ones did, the 570 & 500 are nice , but dont have a big enough field to fly them, both have good gear on them,
