So... Basically this is a G380 stretch to 420mm

Parts to do the conversion should be just blades, boom and belt?

Seems like it. I could possible see a slighty taller side frames to accommodate larger packs and a slightly bigger canopy for the same reason. If the disk loading is simular to maybe a protos 500 I think it will be a hit.

I would definitely go for it if it's a stretch option for the 380.

Possibly, but it looks like the 380 canopy to me. The 380 has been criticized in the past for being a bit porky for it's disc size. a simple stretch would address the issue w/o the need, or cost of redesigning anything else.

It looks better proportioned with the longer boom compared to the 380 too. A nice and cheap upgrade path to an already good heli, I'll sure be upgrading my 380 when the parts are available.

Only thing that might be an issue for me is the CG. I fly with 1800mAh packs and with my set up the CG is perfect with the lipo as forward as possible. With the stretch to 420mm, I'd prob need bigger packs to compensate for the extra weight on the tail.

My thoughts, This is just like they did the 500 then the 570 a lot of parts will work for both. I would bet that the 380 and the 420 are the same.

I would love to have a G420, but "if" SAB doesn't make the main blade grips larger to accept standard 10mm root size of standard 425mm blades currently on the market(used by helis such as the Trex 500/Gaui X4), I'm going to pass. Will not be lured into paying exorbitant $ for an oddball size & limited blade selection....

They need to go ahead & make the tail grips larger also (5mm root).

I'm hoping all this goes without saying. SAB wouldn't make an oddball 420 class blade would they?

By then, maybe they'll be a 3 bladed tail... then the extra 5mm on main could be made up by smaller tail feathers?

I dunno 'bout you guys but if you see my sig... my helis have all been 420'd already

Its called a Bloto rotation.

But seriously, wait till you're done & charging.. stay safe

I don't se how they can do this if there gonna use micro servos. To run that size blade you are gonna need mini servos. Micros are just gonna get trashed

They just had a FB post about the G420...

Micro Servos for cyclic and Mini for tail. Appears to be a stretched 380...just a new boom and canopy? Battery size was spec'd at 2100/2600. I don't believe the frame has been modified.

They have yet to announce main grip size, but I bet it's the same as the G380.

I do like this option .... But
I like small 380 just because it is small ... If i want bigger then there is 500
Still good to have options

IF that's the case... it'll be tough getting regular 425's to fit!

could just be the pic, but the blades dont look as wide as normal 425. May just be longer 380s?

I'd expect a longer version of the 380 size blades. Typical 500 (425mm) class blades have a thicker root, wider chord, heavier & a larger grip bolt. A new blade size seems like the easiest to implement this change while retaining the design aspects of the 380.

This would be a welcome change since I'm not a fan of the real heavy disc loading on the 380. The news of this has changed my mind on keeping the G380. Can't wait to try this!

I'm in the same boat. Likely going to get P380 for 380, and move my G380 to the 420.
