Default Anyone still flying an N9?

I was at the field yesterday and brought both of my nitro heli's out.

Synergy N9 (Bonta FBL head, YS 91SR, Ikon), and my Trex 700N (wide frame w/DFC head, YS 91SR, Ikon)

After flying both, I belive I am about ready to just sell the Trex and scrounge the interwebs to find any and all N9 parts and crown gears to keep it in the air. Not that the Trex is a bad machine in any way, but the N9 just all around flies better! It's more smooth and stable for my style of flying and generally just better behaved. (I'm not a big 3d pilot, mostly just big air loops, rolls, and low FFF).

So really, I just wanted to get everyone's opinion. Should I sell the Trex?
Is there any way to make it handle more like the N9? Or, is there any more current models that handle more like it?

Also, I haven't had the chance to fly an N7. How does it handle in the air compared to the N9?

I'm not trying to start a brand war between Align and Synergy in any way. Like I stated earlier, the Trex is a great machine and this is just my personal like and feel of the two aircraft.

Thanks for any and all help and opinions you guys can give...

I haven't flown an n9 so I can't compare it to an n7. I have flown pretty much all the current 700 sized nitros on the market though. I will say the n7 is my favorite heli out of anything I've owned or flown. I really can't see anything bad about it. It also holds up very well with very little maintenance.

I have owned probably 20-25 of them over the years. Awesome heli, but the parts have all but dried up. Unless you are a a machinest who can make your own stuff if going to be tough sledding after a major crash. Even then you are really going to struggle. I just sold my last N9 a few weeks ago, pristie machine. My vote would be to sell them both and buy an N7 so you can fly without hesitation and know there are parts to fix it when something happens

Nice, we need to fly together some time.
I have a few parts stashed back. No crown gears though.
Took up where Dan left off in putting a E7 transmission
in a N/E 9. Slow progress but getting there.

I'm betting an N7 would put a big smile on your face. Parts galore, light, flys like a dream.

Danny's right. My E9 only gets out at funflys and every now and then at home.
If you are a Nitro guy you owe it to your self to get a N7.

I love my E9 but it's for sentimental reasons. Converted my first one to electric back in 2007. Love my 806 and E7, fly em every weekend when i can get out to the field. The N7 is much lighter and way fewer parts. Flys great .

Thanks guys for all the advice. I think I will hang on to the N9 just because I love how it flies, but I'm definitely going to be looking hard for an N7 this summer.

Brought mine out from the closet, Stuck a FBL head and vbar in it. LOVE it.
Been flying electric for some time so it was nice to get back and fly my nitro.

You wont be disappointed with an N7. They are even lighter than the N9 in FBL form and fly excellent.

I say if you have had it for this long your probably not crashing often so it could fly for a long time. Enjoy it and fly it.

I recently tested a 766 head on an N9. Will fit fine as a FBL conversion. Required drilling a different Jesus bolt hole in the head block. FYI... in case someone needs a conversion.

Cheers

I think the protos max head would work as well.

Took it out again yesterday, Made some adjustments, took out vbar and put in CGY, found the happy head speeds. Flying a $35 canomod canopy, B surface VTX 697's.
My FBL conversion lightened it up considerably, just over 10 lbs dry.

Very excited to be flying it again after having it sitting unused for 5/6 years.

I'm looking for an original N9 main shaft part number 110-140 or 110-140H.
Thanks,
Todd
