Default Edge 50 Lite enough?

I just ordered a P380 and need an ESC with full telemetry support. I already have an Edge 50 Lite in an X3 that I could move over. Anyone try this ESC?

The downside is the very well known weak BEC in the edge series. I would go with HW, personally. Much stronger BEC.

The HW doesn't support full telemetry.

The Edge BEC on such a small heli should be just fine. You can always see what your BEC voltage is doing with telemetry and buy a small Gryphon BEC if you're having issues.

I'd never trust it on anything bigger, but I ran an Edge 50 on a 325 machine with MKS DS95 servos for years with no issues.

I've been using the Edge Lite 50 for quite some time now without issue. Moderate 3D at 3000 head speed and the highest logged current peaks have been less than 37 amps. It stays plenty cool. I did, however, decide to abandon the integrated BEC in lieu of an external one. This decision was only by recommendation, and not due to any negative experience or suspicious logging.

i've been using one for several months now along with built in BEC at 8V with mk93/93i servos - seems to be OK. I'm using a spektrum rx voltage protector cap.

live link telemetry seems to work pretty good as well with brain2 in this application if you're interested in that - no wild readings or throttle glitches.

You can build it up and bench test the BEC to see if it will hold on your setup.

Each setup, even identical ones can have different results.

I also ran a lite 50 for years on a 450 with DS95s and had no issue, but when I tried the same ESC on another machine with KST servos it would brown out.

The only way to be sure is to try iy

I'm still putting together my P380, but I'm going to do that on mine as well. Always better to have a dedicated BEC. You can get a higher rating and it's better not to share boards with that electrically noisy ESC. They put the BEC on the ESC as a convenience thing, but I don't think it's the best solution. Funny you can hardly find ESCs without a BEC on board, I guess they assume that's what everyone wants.

5a bec on the 50 isn't it? That should be fine.
I'm using a 60a YGE that has a 3a continuous, 5a burst BEC and haven't had any issues. Using 306gHV and a MKS ds95i

It should be fine on paper but sometimes the bec just isn't enough for some reason.

Like Canbarelyhover I run my castle 50a with a capacitor I got with my Hobbywing 130a esc. It buffers current spikes, so as long as your average draw isn't over 3a you should be golden.

My particular esc had brown outs before but this fixed it. Don't know why more people don't use caps. In my experience it made an inadequate bec perfectly usable.
