Default Battery Suggestion for G380

I have just bought a second hand G380. Now it is time to buy some battery

I have a quick look at previous threads but not able to sure. So want to ask and get your opinion.

I am planning to buy SAB lipo but not decide the mAh 2.100 or 2.500 mAh

SAB 6S 2100mAh Lipo Battery 50C
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/prod...ducts_id=35702
Weight: 348g

Mentioned as: Recommended for helicopter with 350/400 mm blades size Perfect for Goblin 380

SAB 6S 2500mAh Lipo Battery 50C SB125
Weight: 400g
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/prod...ducts_id=37340

Mentioned as:Recommended for helicopter with 350/400 mm blades size Perfect for Goblin 420

When I check the old recommend battery "PULSE 1800mAh 6S 22.2V 45C", its weight is 333 mAh.

I have light ESC, Kontronik Koby 90LV. When I compare it with HW 80 A, Kontronik is 40 gr less.

I know G380's tail is heavy. 2.100 mAh is out of Stock for now.

So I guess it will not be a big problem if I buy 2.500 mAh. What do you think ?

I would get the lighter of the two for sure. The 380 is heavy enough. I use 1800s with headspeeds in the 3000 range and easily get 4.5mim.

1800 to 2100 is the sweet spot for the 380 although some people fly bigger batteries but I'm not sure how they get a good CoG. 2200 to 2600 is needed for the 420 to balance the longer tail.

+1. Depending upon your components, heavier may be required. I use 2600 on my 420 and still have to sandbag to get COG correct. I have very light ESC (YGE 60) and very light Pyro motor.

You might consider gens ace or turnigy nano tech 2200s

Turning nanotechs are 371 with the mounting plate

Gens ace are 379 with mounting plate.

I flew my 380 with the Nanotechs for a while before upgrading it to 420.

For 380 I was running the Pulse 1800s,.. and the balance was pretty close (holding heli up perpendicular by the head),. but flights were very short,.. so I would say, it depends of what type of flying you are doing.

If your just doing smooth, gentle flight,.. the heavier pack won't be something you would notice much. Matter of fact,. the heavier may even feel better and less twitchy, if your just starting out flying! However, if you are throwing it around like a champ, every gram saved feels better in the air! If you have the thought of possibly upgrading to 420 someday,. I can tell you, the 2600s are really, really close to perfect CoG,.. and I am loving the 7-8min flight times!!!!

If you get the 1800s,.. and upgrade,.. they will be way too light, and you will need to get new packs!

So you are happy and using 2600s at Goblin 420 not at Goblin 380, right ?

As soon as I kill my 1800mah, I´m going for the 2600mah, and keep it as a 380. Hope I get at least to 4:30min.

I have a battery question as well. I have a 380 and ive been running 1800 45c. I just got a 1800 90c from banggood and on the break in i noticed the motor and esc got a little warm. So my question is can u put too high of dicharge battery in a heli. Or no.

As far as I know, the pack will only discharge what the system demands. So even if the pack truly is a 90c, it wouldn't push that much.

Totally agreed. If there is no demand, the battery itself will not discharge more.

G380 - battery that weighs low to md 300g is ideal

G420 - battery that weighs high 300g to low 400g is ideal.

G420 is appox 80g heavier than the G380 if you use the same electronics on both helis Half of this additional weight comes from the Thunderbolt main blades used on the G420.

I fly my G380 and G420 with the Pulse 2600 packs. With low headspeed & sport style flying, I can achieve 10 min flights on the 380, and 8-9 minute flights on the 420.

The Pulse 2600 is about the upper limit on what can fit in the Goblin frame. Width wise is just about maxed out, so much so that you have to pay attention to how and where you place your zip ties for holding the motor wires, to make sure the tie doesn't hit the battery. There also isn't much room to move the pack front or back on the CF battery plate, but it does fit, even when using the quick connect system.

You will get way more than that with a 2600mah, my friend!!! i'm getting 6-7mins at 3400hs,.. and 8mins if I stay around 2800-3000(G420). I use the High voltage cutoff,.. think it is 3.6v or so.

you can get longer flight time on the g420 if you gear it right.

I use to fly 1400mah on the g380 @3100 rpm. I know fly them on the g420 at low headspeed 2600 rpm and get 20 seconds more flight time. the g420 also feels allot more floaty

2500 mAh may be a little heavier.

I can't find 2200 in Gensace or Nanotech. Maybe discontinued?
