hey guys,

i tried to distract myself from the heat today, and did another video. a few things about the tail box (appreciate thoughts & feedback on it):

- all SLS, additional 15mm length
- cable ties instead of heavy 4 sets of metal bolts
- thrust bearing tail blade grips, 2gr each
- anti rotation pin goes into the tail boom via 3mm hole
- belt guide re-positioned to almost touch the rear tail pinion. no way out for the belt

assembly video:

cheers
christian

That canopy is a prototype I constructed in the early days of the project. It was supposed to be made by deep drawing, so I made this mold.

Chris then got one printed, bought a deep-drawing box and made one prototype. That didn't work 100%, but in theory it's okay. He used a fairly thick plastic, so the cano's weight is ~15g right now. He's still experimenting with thinner plastic.

I got the canopy here, but since it's a rather dirty prototype, I just did a fairly quick sharpie paint job on it to see what it looks like. Here it is.

hey folks,

just got in the new SLS rotorhead. will be testing the next days. first impression is that it is even more solid than the alloy one.

it is compatible with the blade 300cfx main shaft and align 450 spindle shaft - removing another obstacle for building this bird on your own. the lynx main shaft is also supposed to work - we will see

Cheaper than the oxy, just hoping that I won't have to get someone to laythe a shaft.

I believe that's what the new SLS head is for, for avoid needing lathe, and make you Able to use OEM part

Jonas or criz, is this the untreated or the polished "Strong&Flexible" material from Shapeways?

Thanks for the answer Jonas, but I should have been more clear. You can have the parts with a polished or raw (just cleaned) surface. I assume then its raw?
