Build Thread - HelixHeli G700 Conversion

Started assembling my kit tonight. How are you guys securing the servos? On my align the servo screws anchored into the servo trays and obviously that won't work for the Helix.

I've got a couple ideas, but wondering what has worked for others?

I am not Tin, I am just a lucky dude that is getting to do some testing for him on this new design is all.

I used M3x8mm bolts and lock nuts. overkill, I know, but that's what I used.

I used the W type servo nuts from hirobo

Does the fuel tank stopper need to be changed for gas operation?

the align tank stopper itself is fine in the gasoline. it is the fuel line that is the most important to change.

you will benefit from the quick-uk fuel tank blanking plug retainer that prevents the other stopper from leaking though.

I use the "PEM" nuts MA used to sell. I'll have to find another source once I'm out.

I fly gas airplanes, so I know about the fuel tubing thing. Thanks for the stopper tip. One more question, does the tank still suck in on these? I saw that other thread yesterday.

if the tank is properly vented, it will not "suck in"

if you use a one way vent, if the tank sucks in the vent needs to be replaced

otherwise with the looped coil vent the only way this will happen is if the tube gets plugged somehow

the tank doesnt suck in like Carey is talking about unless the vent it messed up.


but the tank does still do what they were talking about in that thread. over time, the tank will become a little more transparent, and a little softer. i really dont know why it does this either....but i have not had an issue with it. it got a little transparent, and a little softer, then stopped.....never got any worse. still working perfectly today.

Can your donor 700 be an electric or does it have to be a nitro? Thanks

the new one i am flying is for an electric. as far as the WEBSITE says, the older model is for a nitro conversion.

didnt you get everything you needed from me at IRCHA? if so, all you need is the nitro tail box, everything past that and the electric is the same. you got KDE bearing blocks, head and mainshaft, and the complete clutch assembly from me at IRCHA. so all you need is OWB hub, gears, and the tail box....that just dawned on me. sorry, i would have mentioned that in the PM if i had thought about it.....

It depends on which parts you are looking for. I built up one of these kits by purchasing parts, instead of a donor. Most of the parts I bought were for an electric Trex. I can't remember which parts were Nitro specific. Fuel tank obviously... main bearing blocks maybe?

I'm leaning towards getting this kit with a TRM VX-275 modified Zenoah engine. I can't seem to find a Gens Ace 3200mAh LiFe pack anywhere.

Any other good LiFe packs out there to recommended?

Anyone have video of their G700?

Personally I dont use anything but the orignal:

Bit of a weight penalty over generic LiFe but they will take a beating none of the clones will.

Mine weighs 5kg without main blades or fuel (well there's a tiny bit of fuel in the tank). So depending on blades it will be 5.4kg ready to fly without fuel.

(This is with a 2200mah RX pack, SK540 FBL, G260RC engine)

Thanks for the reply. So you will probly be around 12lbs with a full tank. That's realy light. Dose the 260RC Weigh the same as the TRM 300 RC?
