I was wondering the same thing about the motor. I am also running 14S packs but don't want to use the old gear.

What would be a suitable motor than with around 450KV. Shouldn't the Scorpion 4530-450 fit

Would like to know if that is possible.

It would bolt in but the shaft is not long enough to meet the counter bearing, and I suspect you will run into blowing the main gear on 14s with no counter bearing support.

I also use the Scorpion one on my 700xx. I like having a switch so I can test controls are working without powering up the ESC. Many clubs and events (for good reason) do not allow powering up in the pits area. For my new 700 I'm thinking of just getting a 2s LiPo and running it through a switch like this

I am little afraid of electronic switches.

This one i believe is one of the best that you can find.

It's only a backup though. It just has to work for 10 seconds if at all

If you're going 14S go with the 717mm mains, makes no sense going under 700mm IMO anyhow...

Except when you want to build a smack monster, then I'd certainly do 697
